Guetta Thinks DJ Hero Is Banging, Is Working On DJ Hero 2

DJs: Cooler Than Rockstars.

Top DJ David Guetta [and the mastermind behind tons of amazing French house - Ed] has hinted he’s working on a follow-up to DJ Hero.

In an interview with Kelowna, Guetta said, “I think it’s amazing, this game [DJ Hero], and I’m going to work on the No. 2 version. It’s a really crazy game,” he said.

“After ten minutes, you get the rush that a DJ gets after ten years of practising. I have fun with it, but you know what? I can’t go to the maximum level. It’s too difficult for me. It’s crazy.”

Despite DJ Hero selling like crap, we thought it was fabulous game, and alongside The Beatles: Rock Band, the best music game this year.

One request Freestyle – more electro, dance, house, pop and D&B. Less dodgy hip-hop. Not that we don’t like hip-hop. Just those tracks were kinda the most boring.

DJ Hero Sales “Modest” Claims Analyst, States The Bleeding Obvious

DJ Hero Is Apparently Not Everyone's Cup Of Tea.

DJ Hero Is Apparently Not Everyone's Cup Of Tea.

Analysts like to talk about sales a lot. Heck, it’s their job. A job that pays Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital Markets to tell Gamasutra that DJ Hero’s sales are “modest”. Given the UK figures, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear that. Top marks Colin — your profession continues to state the bloomin’ obvious.

Sebastian goes on to claim that consumers are “showing price sensitivity” towards games with price points higher than $100. Have a Smartie Colin.

Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz reckons consumers are getting tired of rhythm games. It’s going to be interesting to see how Band Hero and Lego Rock Band fare over the coming weeks. Does anyone care about those games? We don’t. At least DJ Hero was different.

DJ Hero Bombs In The UK Charts Despite Actually Being Kinda Rad

DJ Hero Only Managed To Scrape Into The UK Weekly Charts.

DJ Hero Only Just Managed To Scrape Into The UK Weekly Charts.

Confirmed: you need to have ZZ Top and other shitty rock acts in your game to be successful. Also, you kinda need to be reasonably priced. That’s right folks, the UK charts ain’t looking too pretty for DJ Hero which debuted at number 20. Despite Freestyle Games doing a pretty stellar job (review forthcoming) on the electro-hip-hop-dance-pop arm of Activision’s music “Hero” franchise, the game failed to woo the general public with a high barrier for entry and stagnating interest in the music genre full-stop.

In other news, Tekken 6 entered the charts at number 8, with Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 dropping behind FIFA 10 to fifth.

Full list after the jump.
