Dante’s Inferno on Playstation 3 Review

Dante's Inferno on Playstation 3 Review.

For a game that so consciously borrows from the God Of War franchise, Dante’s Inferno has its pacing all wrong. It simply lacks the variety that makes Sony Santa Monica’s franchise such a hit. The adequate mechanics and solid art direction may tide you over until March; but Dante sure ain’t stealing Kratos’ crown anytime soon.

PushSquare's Playstation Pick Of The Week: Bioshock 2.

PushSquare's Playstation Pick Of The Week: Bioshock 2.

It’s a pretty big week for video games this one, as it officially starts the Q1, 2010 phenomenon commonly referred to as Game-ageddon; where one big title drops practically every week until way into April.

PushSquare’s Playstation Pick Of The Week: Bioshock 2 [EU/US]

Perhaps the most unnecessary sequel of all time, Bioshock 2 may seem surplus to requirements but early reviews have been extremely positive about 2K’s glam-horror shooter. We’re curious to see how it’s turned out.

Ain’t No Sunshine For Dante’s Inferno In The Middle East

No Dante's Inferno For You Middle Eastern Folk.

No Dante's Inferno For You Middle Eastern Folk.

Who would have thought? Visceral Games’ Dante’s Inferno will not be released in the Middle East. Probably the biggest shocker of the year, right?

“Electronic Arts has decided not to release Dante’s Inferno in the Middle East after an evaluation process which is based on consumer tastes, preferences, platform mix and other factors,” said a statement from EA.

How about that then?

MAG Stays In The UK Charts’ Top Ten, Dante’s Inferno Enters At Number Four

Dante's Inferno Has Entered The UK Charts In Seventh Position.

Dante's Inferno Has Entered The UK Charts In Fourth Position.

Very little change this week in the UK’s all-formats chart, with Mass Effect 2 still holding the top-spot. Visceral Games’ reimagining of Dante’s Inferno entered fairly strongly at number four this week, knocking Sony’s MAG to a respectable seventh.

By the way, why did Ubisoft moan about Avatar’s sales? It’s been in the top ten for months now. Granted we’ve seen a few special offers on the game at various stores, but still, it looks like it’s done ok for them.

Top 20 is after the jump.

Dante’s Inferno Super Bowl Commercial Is Actually Very Good

We’ve no idea who came up with the idea of mixing Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” with a video game adaptation of Dante’s Inferno, but bloody hell does it work. This is EA’s much touted trailer for Dante’s Inferno that will air during the Super Bowl. It’s a stroke of marketing genius.

Seriously, if anyone reading this came up with the advert, give yourself a pat on the back.

Dante’s Inferno DLC Brings Online Co-Op, User Generated Content

Australian gamers who already have their copies of Dante’s Inferno have uncovered a trailer for an upcoming DLC pack for the game. The DLC, entitled “The Trials Of St. Lucia”, will allow players to create there own player-based combat challenges and share them with friends — think LittleBigPlanet.

The DLC will also add online co-op aswell as a new character. It’ll be available on April 29th.

As absolutely cool as these features sound, it’s a bit weird that they’re not on the actual retail disc. After all, these features give Dante’s Inferno a selling-point over God Of War III.

Still, the premise is cool and we’re looking forward to trying it out.

EA Release Screenshots Of Their Dante’s Inferno Super Bowl Advertisement

If Only The Actual Game Looked That Good, Eh?

If Only The Actual Game Looked That Good, Eh?

EA are on assault with Dante’s Inferno. In fact, they’re about to promote their product on the Super Bowl, one of the US’ biggest sporting events. Because this is such a big deal (an estimated $2.5million is being spent on each spot) EA’s decided to release some screens from the advert.

They’re CGI.

Interestingly, according to Kotaku the CBS are not too thrilled with the advertisement’s tagline “Go To Hell” and have asked for edits to be made to the promotion.
