Just need the Metaphor announcement. These scummy delay announcement tactics by xbox are really annoying for everyone on PS/nintendo

Wow, no Switch version of P3R? Either they will announce it on the 20th or there's a Nintendo Direct on the horizon. Well whatever the case, I'm still getting this on PS5

@Ashina There's rumors that Nintendo is developing a new console so if it not on Switch it could come to that since P5 Tactics is confirmed coming to Switch.

I’ve actually flipped my tune on P5T. I’m pretty excited for it now! P3RE will be my first experience with P3, so the remake is perfect for me. The more Atlus games, the better!

@Rmg0731 I feel like MS is delaying the announcement for other platforms even more for Metaphor since it is a new IP from Atlus and they wanted to keep the buzz of it being an Xbox game more than the Persona games

@AsterZero I really don't believe in rumors lately and didn't Nintendo said they don't have any plans to release a new system anytime soon? Whatever the case, by the time Persona 3 Reload launches, there won't be any new Nintendo hardware so either release the game on the Switch or Nintendo fans are gonna wait that long until they can play it on the next-gen Nintendo console.

@HotGoomba yeah, I've seen this "leaked" boxart though really didn't believe it until an official announcement. Doesn't mean it's not coming out on Switch. Maybe we'll see it happen during a Nintendo Direct but let's wait.

This was always how it was gonna be unless Atlus wanted to terminate 75% of their possible sales

I'm just worried that they will release Fes content as paid DLC, alongside the female mc.
It'll probably already have costume DLC like P5, but I never bothered getting them anyway.

@Judal27 Yea, that seems logical. That's the only game that was announced at XBox's showcases that wasn't confirmed (besides XBox's own studios) for PlayStation.

no news on metaphor and playstation availability after several days is making me nervous. it might be a 6-12 month xbox exclusive afterall.

Can someone explain why Microsoft pay for a period of time not to have the game announced for other platforms? I remember they got a lot of flack for Rise of the Tomb Raider back in the day, but 48 hours exclusivity? Why is that a thing? I'm not rushing out to buy an Xbox in that 48. hours...

@CKFilms I think it simply helps create a stronger impression that Xbox is where you’d be playing these (although in this case it was kinda invalidated by the leaks).
Also apparently multiplatform games in a platform showcase don’t count so the impression is better if you can’t immediately confirm it

Honestly, what's the point of a 48h embargo. It's not like people will run to the store to buy a console in those couple of days, for a game that's not even close to release...

I will say that it being day 1 on game pass makes a strong argument. No need to pay the atlus tax that way.

@BeerIsAwesome That's my point. The announcement embargo prevents Sony from doing the same thing (not that I think they would).

@Voltan Sony doesn't have the "look at me!" energy that Microsoft has. Xbox has always been the guy who wears a polo and cargo shorts to work, while Sony has always been the guy who wears a suit and tie. So while Xbox has the whole "look at what you're all getting" thing, when Sony posts what they've got on socials, it's more like "take a closer look on the blog".

@Martijn87, You don't understand. If you look at the Atlus posts on twitter after the showcase, they had 1 million views with 13 K likes. Those people saw just Xbox, and will not stick around for another 48 hours to check if it's also coming to PS.
The damage is already done, the marketing by MS worked, even if only half of those believe that it's exclusive to Xbox.

@Sil_Am maybe, but I would be very hesitant to use Twitter as a good source of data. It was always small and weird and now it’s smaller and weirder.

@koffing Don't want to argue, but the post had 1 million views a few hours after the MS showcase. I'd say it's a more powerful marketing platform than even Youtube.

@Sil_Am i see you're point, and it will have some impact for sure. But in this day and age where most games are announced through leaks it will have less impact then last generations. The PS5 and switch versions were leaked days before the official announcement. Those views also represent gamers that are already Xbox owners, and people who view the content more then once. I work alot with social media on my work lately, likes and views don't add much these days anymore, mainly because of the amount of content people view on a daily basis. For example, The next post someone views might be a leak or news post that the game is coming to other platforms, impacting the Xbox announcement.

It is bizarre placing an embargo on developers announcing that the release is also coming to other platforms. Particularly for a game series with a legacy on Playstation.

Coming from a company that couldnt wait for the PS Showcase to tweet that many of the games were also coming to Xbox, it comes off as very desperate imo. Having the marketing rights should be enough

Its the same as what PS do, When PS or Xbox show games they don't show the other company's logo on the Trailer. Then you have to go look and find out if its coming to other platforms. They are both guilty of it.

@Flaming_Kaiser Unfortunately I am not the billionaire I wish I was, so I don't know how advertising works. But given how many companies try to be "cool" these days, it appears to be working. Albeit to a point, since people like Coca-Cola and Mars are generally professional with their packaging, and they still sit at the top of their sectors.

I must admit it is a little bit weird that this has not been announced on PS and Switch yet. Where I work my role revolves around the back end/copyrighting for a large UK company that lists a wide range of video games. I'm lucky I get to see certain products early via images or cover arts and I have received assets for the Xbox version but nothing else. Server side it only lists Xbox right now when with P3R and P5T they all showed up multiplat at the same time a few weeks back. Not sure what that means really if anything but thought id share what I know.

@TheTony316 i sure hope so! although i have a feeling it will get a ps4 release as well. graphically, it doesn't look overly taxing and they did the same thing with persona 5 by releasing it on ps3 in addition to the ps4 (very late into the ps3 life cycle at that).

I mean.. these embargos will only fool the most well... foolish of customers.
I guess PS could make a press release now showing all the nice games that were announced for it at the Xbox showcase. 🤷
