It's been a long time coming, but developer Cellar Door Games is finally bringing its celebrated sequel, Rogue Legacy 2, to PS5 and PS4. Confirmed via the latest PS Plus update, the indie rogue-lite action game is hitting Sony's consoles at long last.
Fittingly, the game follows in its predecessor's footsteps; each attempt at clearing the randomly generated castle will have you playing as a new character. Each of them are also randomly generated, with different classes, weapons, spells, special moves, and traits leading to countless variations. Gold you earn during a run can be used to purchase permanent upgrades, and eventually you'll be strong enough to defeat all the bosses and see the story concluded.
It was a critical smash hit when it launched on PC and Xbox, and then again on Switch, so we've been dying to get our hands on this. The game launches on PS5 and PS4 on 20th June, when it'll also go straight into the PS Plus Extra catalogue.

I played some of this on the steam deck. It feels really good, but sadly the steam deck does not.
I played the first game to death on PS4, and I can't wait to do the same with the sequel.

I bought this during the Steam Spring Sale and have such a blast with it. I played the first Rogue Legacy back in 2014 and the sequel is fun with all of the additions.
Whoa. I must have this! Im Starting to dig the randomization of these games. They live and die by the gameplay loop. And they bring the challenge!

@GymratAmarillo @ztpayne7 I had a few trophies missing for the plat with RL1 but enjoyed my time with it so bought RL2 near to release.
It's great although some of the new additions left me scratching my head to be honest.
in many ways it is better than the first. However the achievements on xbox are about running the game multiple times to completion, and each subsequent run gets harder.
Each time you complete a run, you have the option to up the next run difficulty and to include one of the six bosses as a buffed version (theres an achievement for beating each buffed boss). You also have an unlock tree to spend gold on. The bosses initially are no joke, the buffed versions are ridiculous. The game is real tough.
As the games longer and bigger, it's also much harder to learn the boss movesets the next time you reach them. The size of the RL1 map was perfect, RL2 is too big imo. I would be interested in hearing what you think. It's a must buy for you both, that first run completion was one of my biggest achievements of last year but I put the game down after my 3rd completion as it was too difficult and I had almost maxed the skill tree! Was disappointed after the fun original to have seen this continually release everywhere else but PS! 😑 Still,better late than never! Never dared took on the "new game+" versions of the bosses, had enough hassles trying to survive the originals! 😱😅
