Released as a PlayStation 3 exclusive just two months before its bigger and better brother hit the market, Puppeteer didn't get the attention it deserved back in 2013. The title from Sony Japan Studio was a stunning platformer that brought the pantomime to life, and as it turns out, the game's creator still wants to do a sequel all these years later. Having just helped to put out Demon's Souls on PlayStation 5, Gavin Moore thinks there are still stories to be told from the world of Puppeteer.
Responding to a fan on Twitter asking for a remaster of the original game, Moore reveals his growing interest in a follow-up title. "I’d rather do a Puppeteer 2. There are many stories to be told."
Whether that actually happens or not is most likely up to Sony itself, who in recent years has put out exclusive blockbuster after blockbuster. Is there still room for a game like Puppeteer in its portfolio? After getting Sumo Digital to do Sackboy: A Big Adventure for the PS5 launch, we think so. Make it happen, Sony — let's see what Gavin Moore is cooking up in that brain of his as far as the Puppeteer universe is concerned.

I want the remaster first then the sequel on ps4/5
The first one is a great game, it's one of the last ps3 exclusive that I played before moving fully to ps4. And the story is actually quite dark, especially the pirates person story.
Sony should definitely consider it. It needs variety and titles like Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Sackboy, Tearaway, Astrobot are crucial for diversifying that portfolio
Would love a remaster with a VR update. It's structure as a stage play could make it amazing. Sadly the game has no marketing of value to it, outside of hardcore circles everyone's forgotten it.
A sequel would be awesome.
Said it for years and years now, Puppeteer for PSVR would be a wonder!
The game was in 3D back in the day on PS3 so that effect in VR would be even greater!
Literally the ONLY reason I didn't play this game was because it came out right before the PS4 was released, which was just extremely unfortunate. Because people like me, trade in their last-gen consoles to make the next-gen more affordable so I couldnt play it if I wanted to.
I’d love more puppeteer in any capacity be it remake , vr , or sequel- amazing little game
Yes, do it!!!
I remember Puppeteer came during when GTAV came out, which is unfortunate. But the game was fantastic. I would love a new Puppeteer.
Amazing game.now we need sly cooper collection.word up son
Yes! This is one of the very few reasons my PS3 is still connected to my tv! Such a good game from start to finish (with Split/Second, Asura's Wrath, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the God of War games).
So wonderful a game, from the esthetic to the voice over and from the gameplay to the sound design. And playing it with headphones (or I guess a surround system) is absolutely incredible!
Would have performed way better if they just pushed it onto the PS4 (the lineup was pretty dry at first anyway)
I love that rather than go with the easy route to release a remastered or remake like many others he instead would like to make the sequel and I would definitely like that idea since I love the first one, hopefully it becomes a reality
Great game. I feel like it sort of ushered in or at least was part of the whole paper craft look of LBP, Terraway and even Yoshi and Kirby.
And while we're on the topic of great PS3 games that were overlooked I could really use a port and/or sequel to Asura's Wrath. DB Super fans would probably eat it up.
And Heavenly Sword. But not Lair or whatever that poorly controlled dragon flying game was. Yeah I know they patched it, but I still don't need it or a sequel, dime a dozen.
And I want to buy it. The first is ridiculously underrated, it needs another spotlight.
@Rob_230 And please show them some love. These games almost get no adds if i wasnt the guy that looks up all the info on gamingsites i would have never found out about some of these little gems.
Yes, please.
Fantastic and imaginative game. The art is something everyone should see.
Great game, very underrated in my opinion.
One of my favourite games of the PS3 generation. I'd love to see a sequel. Make it happen!!!
this game had so much style please do a remaster Sony!
Really underrated title. I had a ton of fun playing it. Here's to hoping we'll see the more niche titles return on the PS5.
1000x yes to this a new J-Horror game from Japan Studio would also be nice...PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!
Great game. I only played it because of PS Plus, but I'm glad I did. Absolutely fantastic.
One of the best 2D platformers, not just on PS3, but of all time. It simply is a fantastic game that seems to have been inspired by the equally brilliant Treasure release Dynamite Headdy (another 2D platformer fave of mine) from back in the Megadrive/Genesis day. A Puppeteer sequel for me would be more than welcome.
This was a thing of beauty on a 3DTV.
It was a better idea than a game (in my opinion). I liked the presentation much more than the actual gameplay, and was a bit disappointed after finishing it. I saw it through because I loved the story and watching the cutscenes was a joy, but the game itself... meh. Whenever I see a game with fantastic style, I always think of this game and wonder if the gameplay will actually be as good as the game looks. Hopefully a sequel would polish and flesh out gameplay mechanics, and it will actually be fun to play as well as look at. Would be very cautiously optimistic for a sequel.
I still have my copy brand new and sealed. Bought it years ago and left it on the shelve. It is part of my backlog but my backlog has been shrinking recently, which is good, because I will play this game sooner rather than later.
I’m saddened to say I’ve still not played Puppeteer although it has been in my digital library for many years. Life and too many titles, not enough time. I’m gonna try to play it this year.
I didn’t really like it. I thought I would because it looked like an MediaMolecule creation and I remember being really into LBP at the time. I don’t know why but it didn’t just click with me and I think I abandoned my playthrough around the half-way point and I’ve never went back.
Really loved this game. Played it on PS Now last week and it holds up so well.
@Perryg92 Dang, really? I never finished it, and got a 3D TV long after my PS3 was rarely used...I ought to connect it to my 3D TV and give that another go!
I really want that Puppeteer remaster. I never finished it because I'm a total peahead, and I can't be bothered to bring the PS3 out of retirement for one last job. Stick it on PS4 where it belongs.
I completed this with my ex doing player 2 actions. Was great fun.
