Here’s the weird thing: key moments in Hitman’s critically acclaimed World of Assassination trilogy keep happening in real life. Those of you who played the Game of the Year edition of the first game may recall a set of sub-missions named Patient Zero, in which Agent 47 is tasked with controlling a deadly disease, which can actually spread between NPCs. Sound familiar?
And now, you may have read reports about the stock market, which is in disarray after a group of Reddit renegades purchased stocks in GameStop of all companies in order to adversely affect those engaging in a practice called shorting. It’s almost like that time Agent 47 infiltrated a New York bank and collapsed the stock exchange, right?
Okay, we’re not saying these things are identical, but they’re eerily similar, aren’t they? What next, then: a faked death in an English country estate? A shady auction at a Parisian fashion show? An underground lab beneath an idyllic Italian seaside town? We’re beginning to believe IO Interactive really can predict the future.

47 should have destroyed Covid-19 in Sapienza when he had the chance.
@Darten Already did, haven't been able to run for a week.
Nah, they ain't no Kojima 😁
You would think The Simpsons would predict covid/stock markets seeing that's what everyone goes too when it happens in the show and real life lol
Those damn reddit and 4chan renegades! How dare they interfere with that hedge fund’s operation?
This is without doubt the laziest and dumbest articles this site has ever written...
Was there ever a mission where 47 had to assassinate a disgraced former US president?
I kid, of course.
Faked death in an English country estate? Is that a spoiler for the murder mystery story line?
I love wallstreetbets for brightening the last week. It’s been hilarious to see what they done with gme and doge.
@Boxmonkey everyone made money, it's weird I've used Reddit for a while and lost some money on the top tips out of that thread. So decided to stick with stuff I know like games publishers and phone / internet networks. Built a decent portfolio and made a few grand.
The GME stuff was different. The hedge funds short failing businesses to make short term profit which has a known side effect of damaging business resulting in closure. A big example is toys r us which was forced to shut due to continuos shorting. Not gonna happen this time and we made money. I made £300 off one share. Gutted I never bought more but I've been stung before.
@themcnoisy yeah I’ve been in crypto since 2017 and to see what happens with Doge was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Seems like new money is flowing into crypto because of it. Xrp went up 40% today 😂
@Boxmonkey it's more than that, everyone who dipped in has now realised how corrupt the system is. So corrupt we end up with crappy companies
I kind of knew about squeezing and facilitating market conditions, but nothing like what's happened the last few days. It's grim and markets are just a front to keep rich people rich.
"Deadly Virus" and "Stock Market Crashes" are two of the most common plotlines in fiction.
