The awkwardly named Infinity Strash - Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai has just been announced. It's an action role-playing game based on Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai, which was originally a Dragon Quest spin-off manga series from the 80s. It's being adapted into a new anime series later this year, and the aforementioned game ties into that.
Anyway, all we have to go on right now is the brief gameplay trailer embedded above. It looks... Okay, and it's coming to "consoles" in 2021 -- in Japan, at least. It was previously listed for PlayStation 4, so the current-gen console seems like a lock.
What do you make of this? Go ahead and make a "Infinity's Trash" joke in the comments section below.

More interested in reading the manga of this series.
The Dragon Ball feels strong in this one. I know Toriyama does the character designs for Dragon Quest, but this feels more Dragon Ball than other Dragon Quest stuff I have seen. To be fair, I am fairly new to Dragon Quest, so maybe there has been other things. I am cautiously interested.
More of a mouthful than the average Dragon Quest title. Try saying that ten times fast.
It looks like the kind of spin-off game that never to leaves Japan.
@mookysam here’s how it went for me
“More of a mouthful than the average Dragon Quest title. More of a mouthful than the average a Dragon Quest title. More of a mouthfulbhthtbb”
Would rather have a remaster of DQVIII to be honest.
Wow, this game looks gorgeous. I'll have to keep an eye on this!
I kind of dig the 80's-style anime look of the character design. Not sure what to think about the game as a whole. It gives off that [insert yet another Bandai Namco anime arena fighter game] vibe.
I'll wait for the more classic turn based DQXII thanks.
I love me some DQ, but this looks really...basic? Let's wait and see more of it, but for now I won't get my hopes up.
First off, I read that as Infinity Trash... second, this looks more like a dragon ball z game than dragon quest... and third the gameplay looks exactly like Trials of Mana, which i loved. So i don't know how i feel about this.
@Bigkopman I still have my PS2 copy , just in case. But that would bring a tear to my eye. Also, they need to keep the orchestral OST or no buy.
Hm, never really liked the Heroes games so might need to see more.
I been a fan of DQ for years but I don't like the 80's artstyle but the gameplay looks good
@clvr
Dragon Quest as a whole is basic
@Akurusu You get a cookie for effort! 😂
@Xaessya yes, but I was talking about the "feel" of this game.
The gameplay looks like it's ripped straight from a PS2 hack and slash, physics and all.
This looks way less polished than the usual DQ games, but there's still time to improve on it.
At least Dragon Quest has the decency to keep their massive genre shifts to spinoffs.
Action RPG?! You mean I can finally Olay a Dragon Quest and not be absolutely bored with it?! I sincerely am looking forward to this!
@EddieGreenheart Agreed, it's all or nothing.
