Just over a week ago, Sony detailed an upcoming update coming to PS4 that will double the number of participants a party chat can hold. Boosting the total to 16, this latest firmware test will also include improved audio quality for voice chat and better overall network connectivity.
You can now sign up to be a part of this preview test via this link right here. You'll need to fill out a quick form, including your PSN ID and basic details, and once that is done you'll be in with a chance of testing the latest firmware update. If you're already a part of the PlayStation Preview Program, emails are going out now with codes that'll enable you to download this update. We've just received one ourselves here on a UK address.

I tweeted about the chat transcription thing when it was first announced, but bears repeating: "Oh…. DO NOT LIKE! Are the chat transcripts stored? Are they exported? Are they anonymised? Are they sold or used for marketing? Are participants notified and given the chance to opt out?" This needs a lot more transparency from Sony, imho. Yes, my tinfoil hat is firmly installed 🤨
