We Happy Few is coming to the PlayStation 4 on 13th April, 2018. You read that sentence correctly: 13th April, 2018. We guess developer Compulsion Games and publisher Gearbox just wanted to ensure that it claimed Friday the 13th before anyone else came along and stole it from them, which is fair enough.
Anyway, you may remember this game popping up in an Xbox E3 briefing a few years ago, where it was presented as the next BioShock – only to wind up an indie survival roguelike type thing. To be fair, the title does have a very distinctive look to it; the game’s set in a quaint English town in the 1960s, where people take happy pills to alter their perspective.
The release will retail for a whopping £54.99/$59.99 when it launches next year, but PlayStation Plus members who pre-order from the PlayStation Store will be able to get 25 per cent off, which we’re not convinced helps with the sticker shock at all. There’ll also be a Deluxe Edition with a Season Pass if you fancy that. Both versions come with a dynamic theme.
So yeah, there’s that.

I was interested in this when it was announced, but wasn't impressed by the reviews. And that price! Ouch!
When it comes to Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Persona5, The Lost Legacy, or this...this loses out.
Updated with trailer.
There is no way they'll launch at that price. No way.
@lacerz was going to say the same thing. Ill pass
@THRILLHOU i think the only reason they are releasing at that price is to make up the lost they probably had. By only being on xbox they are already at a lost due to the number of ps4 compared to xbone consoles out there.
I was interested when it was first announced, but the roguelike genre has just exploded since then...
Their releasing at that price because with gearbox publishing and backing them they got an influx of cash to add a full length story mode with three different characters you'll play as each with their own dark backstory and over 250 unique encounters.
This could have made for such a good story driven concept
I really wanted to play this when it got announced. I was gutted when I heard it was an Xbox exclusive for a while but I am really pleased it's coming to PlayStation. Although £54.99 is steep, I'll wait till it ends up in an inevitable sale.
It looks like the reviews I read were from the open access, so the game could have developed into something I might enjoy. Still, I'm just now getting to Uncharted 4, I'm on my third playthrough of Nier, and I have Gravity Rush, The Last Guardian, Nioh, and Horizon in my backlog...not to mention trying to learn how to fly a damn ship in Elite Dangerous (I "upgraded" my stock thrusters and now I can't jump to any other systems).
This game may be a casualty of 2017.

From Gearbox's website:
"We Happy Few is releasing on April 13th at $59.99, but you can pre-order to get it for 15% off from now until launch! "

I was excited when they showed it last year and downloaded it the first day it was on the Game Preview thing. Ended up being different than I was expecting. You have to worry about eating and I think sleeping? Maybe even drinking..it's been a year so I can't remember. It kind of put me off for this game though.
They have to be on 60s drugs to sell it at that price! Great way to ensure that you fail in your indie game.
