Gwent PS4 PlayStation 4 1

Well, since the logo of an alleged standalone game for CD Projekt Red's immensely popular card game-within-a-game leaked early last week, we can't say we're terribly surpised by this announcement. The standalone Gwent game was announced during Microsoft's E3 2016 conference.

It is slated to feature a full campaign, as well as cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows. And there's the catch; since this was announced at the Microsoft conference, there was no mention of Sony platforms. A beta was announced to be coming in September, but again only for Xbox One and Windows. We think it's pretty unlikely the game won't be launching on PS4, but for now we just don't know.

Additionally no price was announced, nor was it confirmed to be free-to-play, but the website where you can register for the beta does mention that the game supports in-game purchases. So a free-to-play model could be, erm, on the cards.

Check out the announcement trailer below, and let us know if you want to see this game on Sony platforms as much as we do.

Update: The Gwent game is in fact releasing on PS4, although it looks like the beta is going to be passing on Sony's platform.
