You're going to need to stall the bin men this morning, because your aging PlayStation 3 fight stick still has a purpose. While you may be forgiven for thinking that your joystick is out of action, Capcom has confirmed that classic arcade pads will be compatible with Street Fighter V on the PlayStation 4 after all. No need to break the bank over any expensive new accessories, then.
The publisher has also responded to rumours that Alex will be the first DLC character added to the brawler, starting next month. As previously promised, you'll be able to purchase the Street Fighter III favourite using Fight Money, which you'll earn in-game. Alternatively, you'll be able to plump up some real money to snag the all-new challengers.
There's no word on how easy these extra arrivals will be to unlock, but we're assuming that you'll need to play a lot if you don't want to fork out real-world funds. These characters aren't exactly inexpensive to add, though, so we're cool with that – within reason, of course. We'll have lots more information next week, when our full review of the PS4 console exclusive runs.

Alex is really the headliner news here.
The skeptic in me assumes that because Alex is most wanted character since his introduction in SF3, the suits at Capcom were thinking......how can we lure people into buying the season pass last minute?
Let's announce Alex a week before release as a DLC character for March and announce that we will release a DLC character every month afterwards. I see through you Capcom!!!!
I have already purchased this game and the season pass BTW , between SFV and KOF14, this is a great year for fighters (that appeal to me).
Amazing news. I still play on my PS3 so my Fightstick has work to do, but nice to see I don't need a new one.
Alex was the character I was looking forward the most to play as so this makes me happy too. So unlocking the character will be a choice of "Pay a lot or play a lot".
I never owned an arcade stick for PS3, since I played all my fighting games on 360. I guess there is no chance that my 360 Hori fight stick will work on Street Fighter V? Lol. Anyways, I ended up buying buying the Hori Mini fight stick that works for PS4 and PS3. I plan on buying a bigger one down the road but the mini will do for now.
Definitely good news. It's good because of how people don't need to upgrade to a newer, crazy expensive stick. Since I don't have one, I do have the option to get a cheaper stick, if I want to get one.
I hope they bring out the fighting pads that had the SF themes on them. I have one for the 360 but to get one for the PS3 now is really pricey.
I don't like Fighting Sticks but it is bizarre that they waited so much to announce the compatibility. The community asked about this ages ago.
@belmont
They didn't want to make them compatible because of their licensing agreement with MadCatz I feel, a company that's doing really bad atm. Announcing compatibility would've killed the pre orders for sure, now there were probably lots of gamers who just went ahead and bought one because they were afraid they were gonna be left out. But in the end they couldn't have left the compatibility out, it's just adding a simple driver to the game and that's it. I for one would've stopped playing SF all together if they didn't add PS3 stick compatibility, although I understand business is business. They're already forcing me to play on PS4, I don't want them to make me buy another stick as well.
Madcatz' new sticks are so overpriced, I can't believe they have the guts to ask so much when there are cheaper alternatives. And now they're really screwed, cause buying a good 2nd hand TE SFIV fightstick for about $100 is also an option; you get the same quality stick for less than half the money!
Anyone know if an Xbox 360 TE2 would work on the PS4 with the Lab Zero drivers? I've got a PS3/PS4 Hori 6-button controller as well but it'd be good to be able to use the TE2 stick.
@Matroska Not without doing things that can't be discussed here I am afraid.
I wish Sony would have done the same for driving wheels.
I don't have one but it's great for those who do.
I bought the game .. my xarcade that is used for PS3 isn't working..
I'm not sure if they will fix this .. can someone confirm that their stick is working?
