Oh bugger - Street Fighter V's beta just keeps going from bad to worse. Capcom has announced today that the ongoing beta testing for the game has been postponed due to the severe strain being put on the title's servers.
In a post over on the Capcom forums, the publisher apologises for letting down players but assures us that the beta will be coming back in better condition once the issues have been worked out by the technical wizards. North American players actually got to have some hands-on time with the game, but nowhere near as much as one would have hoped.
For the time being the beta has been postponed until a later date, though no confirmed date has been given. It's a little annoying, but Capcom has promised that there will be a further three full beta test periods in which the firm expects things to go a lot smoother.
As for those in Europe - yeah, we understand. The beta was restricted to North America over the weekend to try and keep things running, and as a result of the not-so-smooth beta, all players will be receiving an in-game incentive for the next round of testing.
It's easy enough to criticise Capcom for a poor showing, but we have to be mindful that it is a beta after all, and this is the exact sort of thing that needs to be tested before the game's full release. Better now than on launch day, eh?

Again? Yeesh.
I will say again though- Better now than at release.
@DerMeister yep, for sure. i dont even care if the game ends up getting pushed back a bit if they need to get it in perfect shape.
I never got a chance to fight anybody, but I did get to try out every character in the training room the one time I was able to connect. I did enjoy what I got to do and due to that I will be getting this game on launch day.
Well, this partnership is going swimmingly. First USF IV, now this. I can only hope when it's time for the full release that any issues have been ironed out but Sony seems to be about as good for Street Fighter as MS is for Tomb Raider.
@Gamer83 Exclusivity curse you think? The cherry on top would be a XBOne port in 2017.
@Gamer83 but.. The whole point of this beta is so the launch will go smoothly. It'll be fine in the end, and when I was able to actually play I had a blast!
@Gamer83 also Capcom didn't port USF4. And it's been patched up too, so I feel like using it as a weapon in complaints is now pointless.
@Gamer83 Do you have any idea what you are talking about anymore? Honestly if you are not pleased with this gen at all then why even have the systems. It seems that this gen is not going to please you.
No, there can be no sympathy. Beta is not an excuse, Capcom know exactly how many codes were sent out and they wasted plenty of peoples time.
@Tasuki
Actually, I do know what I'm talking about, thank you.
As for what I do with my money, shouldn't concern you but there have been plenty of games I like this gen and plenty that I'm looking forward to. Just because I'm not always giving glowing comments about everything doesn't mean I hate everything either. I've made plenty of statements that should show I'm mostly satisfied with what has been put out so far. Not so much Sony's exclusive output but this year there's been enough games that I'm happy to have both an Xbox One and PS4.
Exclusivity has happened since the Atari 2600. You know the very first generation.
There have been 2 articles in the last couple of days so vent your anger at Tomb Raider there. As for USF4 Sony developed it and the patches have helped and its on par with the 360 version now. Business is business which does not make it right but it seems a number of people in these comments section believe that game exclusivity is a new phenomena which it certainly is not.
