We've completely lost count of how many side scrolling platformers are available on PlayStation platforms. With the advent of the PS4 and its keen indie initiative, it feels like we get about ten platforming-puzzler hybrids pushed onto the PlayStation Store every week. Lo and behold, here we have, of course, the announcement of yet another one.
To be fair, Badland was apparently a pretty big deal on the iPad, and that's why it's leaping onto PS4, PS3, and Vita with this Game of the Year Edition. It'll be available from the 27th May in both North America and Europe.
A quirky art style and some brutal deaths adorn its reveal trailer, but is that enough to get you excited? Either give us a thumbs up or simply yawn in the comments section below.

Looks pretty primitive and idiotic.
Also, maybe there are a lot of platformers, but I can't recall even one which can be called outstanding.
Yay, a new game for my Vita!
Yeah, I may prefer the PS4, but the Wii U is tops when it comes to platformers.
I'm getting this
@Gemuarto Rogue Legacy, Fez, Guacamelee and Axiom Verge Boom.
@themcnoisy Didn't play Axiom Verge, but doubt that it's anywhere near metroid games. And first three definitely are not outstanding...Just compare them to Nintendo's platformers or Castlevanias. Those three games are a shame.
@Gemuarto How can you compare Fez or Rogue Legacy to Nintendo's platformers? I am a massive Mario fan, SMB3 is in my top ten games of all time. However Saying Fez isn't outstanding is like saying Water isn't wet. Its a masterpiece. Go and play castlevania on the snes and then play guacamelee and regardless of how good it was its not even in the same league now. As for rogue legacy the gaming loop is nigh on perfect, the platform base game is sufficient but the manor and roguelike elements are what tie the game together, what other game out there compares to it? As for scoring all three are rated highly throughout fan sites, gaming press and the media. In fact Fez won game of the year from one of push squares sister sites, did castlevania ever win game of the year?
@themcnoisy Man, I don't care. I know, that I ve replayed Super Metroid recently and it was fantastic =). And that I were bored to death by those three games you are talking about. Most indies are medicore or simply really bad. Even those that praised by media. Most reviewers just have no taste in our days. Maybe I think so because I like to replay some games from SNES, GBA and DS era, I don't know. But I feel like that. Indies need to grow up... Now, they are on amature level, not all, but most of them.
@themcnoisy
I have to agree with you, those games mentioned are absolutely great games. I grew up through the NES and SNES era and SMB3 is my favourite platformer ever, period. However, the games you have mentioned are tremendous titles.
@Gemuarto Actually I do agree with this as a whole though "I don't know. But I feel like that. Indies need to grow up.." Last month playing tower of guns and never alone they were pretty weak games. And I am suffering from a bit of platform fatigue myself. However dont knock Fez and if needs be play it again until you like it.
@themcnoisy I thought tower of guns was awful, but I did enjoy Never Alone
Looks more like an enhanced Flappy Bird rather than a platformer.
So far, Apotheon has been my favorite platformer on the PSN. Guacamelee is great too but it's been a while since it first released on PS3.
