PlayStation Plus PS4 PS3 Vita Screenshot 2

We know that May's big PlayStation Plus lineup will be announced next week – but there's an image doing the rounds that purports to know the contents of the refresh. According to the rumour, you'll be netting some big games as part of your membership, including Rayman Legends and Knack on the PlayStation 4.

The remainder of the proposed roster includes Need for Speed: Rivals on the PlayStation 3, the excellent Shovel Knight on all three systems, and both Fruit Ninja and Asphalt Injection on the PlayStation Vita. It certainly looks believable at first glance – but we reckon that there are a few telltale signs that shatter the illusion.

Firstly, the Japanese giant has been very good at letting people know prior to a PlayStation Plus update if a game is likely to be part of the Instant Game Collection. As a result, the many people that just bought Shovel Knight this week would be very unhappy if it got given away a few days later, so we doubt that it'll be part of the lineup.

Moreover, for no reason at all, Rayman Legends is listed as a cross-buy title – despite this never being the case in the past. The manufacturer did once give away both versions of Dragon's Crown for free in similar circumstances – but if it was going to do the same here, why wouldn't it include the Vita version of Ubisoft's platformer, too?

We've also tried running the URL in the screenshot through Google Cache, but there's nothing there. In other words, we think that this is a hoax, and while we're certainly not saying that it couldn't come true, we'd recommend not putting too much stock into it right now. All will be revealed officially in a few days anyway.
