The success of spiritual successor Dying Light looks to have scared off publisher Deep Silver, as Dead Island 2 -- previously due out this spring -- has been delayed into 2016. Writing as part of an extended tweet on the game's official social media profile, the studio said that it hasn't achieved its goals yet.
"Right now we are focusing purely on development, and we will have more info to share at a later stage," a spokesperson said. "We know that our fans will be disappointed by this news, but by giving Dead Island 2 more time we are confident that everyone will get a better game to play as a result." Well, at least there's no shortage of zombie games on the market, eh?

That's lame. The Dead Island games are a guilty pleasure of mine. Not great games by any means but just mindless fun.
Well that's one less game I dont have to worry about buying just yet.

@get2sammyb This game has, for a long time, been listed as not coming out until next year on the PlayStation Store pre order section. I only noticed because I wondered how long a game could stay in the 'Coming Soon' section?
Well, on fairness, dying light has up'd the game in a way. Irony mind waiting anyway.

This is a series back of the box bulletpoint now. The first one was incredibly late,and misleading.

Maybe they'll re-release the original on PS4 with all of the add-ons and Riptide added to that one disc...at least to keep people happy until the sequel comes out. Other than that, I loved the first one...reminded me of a campy 80's style zombie movie, and it was always great running around the tropical island and causing a bloodbath along the way!
