We thought that whips were exclusively reserved for jockeys and saucy video clips, but it turns out that they serve a much greater purpose in Freedom Wars’ post-apocalyptic world. Sony has released a brand new trailer showing off the thorned gear that you’ll be able to wield in the upcoming Monster Hunter-esque game, which has many more uses than mere mobility.
As demonstrated in the clip embedded below, you’ll be able to use the device to lay traps, create defensive walls, and even heal your teammates. It seems like you’ll have to pick between which type of whip you want to use, though, so think of this as a nifty class system. Which iteration of the tool do you reckon looks the most useful? Flog us in the comments section below.

This game looks so awesome, but its the music thats really making me want it
This has got to be the next triple AAA killer game for vita...
Probably just me, but I really wouldn't even call that thing a whip, he never actually "whips" it. Seems more like something Link w/ use in a Zelda game.
My first remembrance of a functional whip in a video game is the plasma whip in R&C:UYA.
I was so impressed at what the PS2 was capable of. I haven't seen a better one to this day, though W101 has a pretty good one.
@rjejr What about Castlevania? Richter's whip was the first I ever saw as a weapon in a game.
@Holydiver85 - I only played Lord of Shadows, and if he had a whip I can't recall it.
I'm sure there have been other games w/ whips I haven't played - some western maybe, or FPS - but R&C made a lasting impression, and W101 made me think of R&C while playing it, so I'm not sure of any memorable ones that I've played besides those 2.
Now I just need god eater 2 and pso 2 and i will be a very happy vita owner
This STILL isn't listed on Best Buy's website for pre order. Every day I check.
Good new is, Natural Doctrine is now available for pre order there! PS4 or Vita, PS4 or Vita... after much deliberation, I have decided in favor of the Vita version.
This and Tales of Hearts R getting localized, makes the vita look verrry appealing to me, more so than the 3DS.
