It looks like Sony’s karaoke series SingStar is going free-to-play. A cryptic message displayed in the franchise’s Viewer application – which previously allowed you to browse DLC, but not actually play any of it – notes that the service has been discontinued, but adds that "the complete SingStar experience will be available as a free download very soon”. The series has built up a comprehensive library of DLC over the years, so it makes sense to give away the core experience, and allow you to choose which songs you want to purchase.
Of course, if the game does go free-to-play, you’ll still need to splash out on a microphone. Thankfully, they're not especially expensive these days. As always, Bonnie Tyler wigs are entirely optional.

Lol at the Bonnie Tyler wigs comment! Nice move, Singstar people. Hopefully, some good updates will follow.
So the game is free but you have to buy all the songs, like Zen Pinball 2?
We have the game and 2 microphones "starter" pack but we never bought any extra songs.
@rjejr Good analogy, yes — just like Zen Pinball 2.
