Has this turned into a 'How Old Are You?' thread!

It's such a shame that there aren't more female posters on here, but I think this is a problem on gaming sites in general. I guess we just need to keep working hard to ensure everyone feels welcome, and things will sort themselves out!

Lol, I can assure you that you do make a person feel welcome. And I've found it difficult to fit into a forum about Vita. Much more difficult then in a Nintendo forum.

Keep up hope, guys! I think I'm the oldest gamer here, and I play more video games then my hubby or daughter do. There really are lots of women who game, I have met several female friends on the Internet that way, and they range from teens to a lady of 69!

@inahime, the invite is sent! Nice to find one more lady here!

To me games aren't limited to age. I've played since I was 5 and my nan (bless her) played MMOs until the day she died. It should be something that can bring people together regardless of age, gender and race.

I have been gaming for over 35 years and my mother enjoyed gaming too. I really don't see why age or gender should make any difference. I do understand that some women maybe a little put off by the stereotypical presentation in a lot of games but as more and more women get into gaming - especially in the creative side, we will see more women gaming.
Its one area where gender and age are irrelevant as all can play together and/or compete on a level playing field. Its not like 'real' sport where gender and age can be an advantage. Gaming is one area where we can all be together equally regardless of gender, age, disability, race, religion, politics etc etc. I do think perceptions have changed. Its no longer seen as a kids/teenage boy area and we have seen a lot of family games too. I really don't think it matters if you are an old game, girl gamer, disabled gamer etc or even combination eg old, disabled girl gamer as long as we all play nicely together with NO discrimination regardless

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BAMozzy, you said it all in your post, perfectly worded. I couldn't agree more.
I've "only" been gaming for 9 years, but in that time I've met so many fellow gamers of all ages, gender and nationality. There are some that I write with daily, others that I've chatted to now and then for years now. I really feel very grateful for all that gaming has brought me!

@YvoCaro: My girlfriend absolutely loves her Vita! I bought her one for Christmas a couple of years back (along with a copy of Tearaway) and it was a big hit. She's always got something new she's playing through. She downloads as much as she can for free from Plus, loves the Lego games, and recently played through Tearaway again to hoover up some trophies. I think she's playing the Ratchet and Clank trilogy at the moment!

If she spots a game she wants to play, she'll ask me if it's on Vita - sadly, the answer is usually no, and I feel terrible to have to burst her bubble! Still, plenty of games to enjoy. We both love our Vitas

I doubt she'll make an account on here to be honest, but just thought I'd chime in and let you know there's another Vita lady out there

@Quintumply
Nice avatar by the way!
Same here, I keep an eye out for all good games on handheld that I might like to play. Try to feature as many of them as I can on my blog, to make sure the ladies keep being informed. I do know all games are playable by men and women, but in my opinion the majority of ladies who pick up a 3DS or a Vita tend to like certain game genres like RPG with a good story, simulation games etc.

I'm really into the Atelier series on the Vita, but I was pleasantly surprised too earlier this year by Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. I never played Digimon before, but I'm totally hooked. Oh, and don't forget Persona 4 Golden. Amazing game! See, I could go on and on..which is why I started my blog. Otherwise my non-gaming friends might get seriously bored with me, lol.

I think it's hard to start with as there are a lot less people who play Vita overall. But having said that, I think Push Square is quite a welcoming community so it'll probably be less of a sausage party in future.

I'm only 26, but even in the last 10 years gaming has become a lot more diversified and will continue to do so in many ways. We've just got to be positive, welcoming and prepared to discuss issues in calm and understanding ways.

Whether it's different places on the gender spectrum, age, ethnicity or another parameter you wish to look at, gamers come in all forms. Often the ideas of division between groups are misleading in press and don't reflect the ever-changing reality that gaming is only going to get better.

@DualWielding Don't worry man. Trust me, there's nothing better then when you when you're with a girl on a date and when you say you like games, her eyes light up and you geek out for the rest of the evening! My last girlfriend was a huge horror and adventure gamer. So it's always possible. When you find that person who loves them as much as you do, it'll just be all the more special.

There was a game idea here. It's gone now.

@Churchy, well said!

I agree, gaming has become more diversified, and I think games have been getting better because of it!

With Avatars and daft names, I take no notice of the gender or any personal details of fellow mumblers on here. Pushsquare.com isn't exactly exclusive. Sensible persons welcome sensible persons. Equality is very important to me but defining our personal differences when we all love gaming really isn't.
