For those of you not familiar with it the basic storyline of "The Time Machine" (by H.G. Wells) the time traveler frees the very childlike Eloi from the evil Morlocks. The Eloi have the destiny of becoming kibble for the Morlocks. The Morlocks provided everything for the Eloi so when the time traveler takes the Eloi off the dinner menu he also leaves them helpless to provide for themselves. They speak simple English but that is about it.

At the end of the 1960 movie "The Time Machine" the time traveller takes 3 books when he goes back to Weena (his romantic interest) and the Eloi to help him build a civilization for the Eloi.

If it was was you, what three books would you take (they can be either a speciifc book or a type of book)?

I would take:
1) A grammar/dictionary book - in order to be successful a society has to be able to transmit knowledge not only between its members but to future generations. While you can get them started this will act as a guide for the Eloi when you are gone.
2) A book on farming and animal husbandry. Providing food for the Eloi is going to be high on our list of things to do.
3) A first aide/basic medical book - like it or not you are now the Eloi's chief medical officer (in fact their only one) so you have to do everything from fixing little boo boos to bringing little Eloi into the world.
