@PhhhCough OT... just saw your post, and yesterday downloaded Blasphemous for Switch. (I travel a lot for work, so Switch is a good option for being on-the-road).

I played Hades on Switch last year, and loved every second! I'm a big Souls fan also, currently playing Elden Ring on PS5 (when at home).

Curious for your take on Blasphemous? The graphics seem quite 'old-school' but I've hard is a nice mix of Souls/Metroidvania?

@Wasted_Smuggler No I don’t think there’s a problem. Sony has carved out a certain audience.
I play multiplat, but most of Sony’s franchises appeal to me as day one purchases. A great story, graphics, voice acting, etc… .

Having said that there are a lot of great games that are out there both in the indie & AAA space.

@CJD87 Blasphemous is great. Combat ain't as deep as anything FromSoftware or the likes offer, and I didn't find it that difficult either. But some really bizarre (in a good way) enemy designs and different setting I think sets it out from the rest.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Playing kids game will never hurt you as an adult people. Who cares if you have interest with games for kids. Even I played girlie games My Universe series, Paw Patrol, Portal Knights, etc on my PS4 despite I am a 37 years old dude.

Everyone's got their own tastes and it's fine to just play these but I feel it wouldn't hurt to find new things to try. Perhaps look at the games you've already enjoyed from Sony and see if there's anything else similar to it by a third party you could try. A lot of the games I play on my PlayStation are Sony exclusives but I also play a variety of Japanese games from Atlus, SEGA, Capcom and Square Enix and some indies such as Hades. A lot of people say exclusives are bad but what's the point of consoles if they all have the same games? And exclusivity means they can focus on one system which means getting the best out of it which is part of what I like about exclusives games, they make the most out of it.

Different strokes for different folks.

I play a lot of Sony’s 1st party offerings, but I also buy a ton of third party games.

One thing about the PS5 I’ve noticed is that straight out of the gate the 1st party lineup has been unusually stellar. Which is why most of my PS5 titles are so far Sony published, with some good third parties mixed in between.

The PS4’s first party games didn’t really hit critical mass until 2017. Before 2017, I was mostly playing third party games on PS4.

@CJD87 yes! Hades, blasphemous, hyper light drifter, jotun, death's door, hollow knight, enter the gungeon, etc, those just seem perfectly fit for the switch.
Blasphemous(also switch) is an awesome soulslikevania, soulslike because the timing of attacks/counters and bosses; vanialike because of the exploration and items which allow further exploration. The pixel art is beautiful, to me. It works well with the story, atmosphere and action on the screen(the executions and deaths are a treat). The platforming can be frustrating, in an oldschool nes kind of way. Precise jumps, etc. But, all in all, a pretty great game.

@PhhhCough Cheers mate! Looking forward to starting it up today/tomorrow, and should keep me busy nicely when travelling.

I noticed an ommission from your list... have you heard of and/or played 'Salt and Sanctuary'? It is hands-down the best souls-like-vania I have ever played. Is basically 2d-Dark Souls, and utterly fantastic. Remarkable build-diversity, great & unique aesthetic, co-op potential, brutal bosses and cryptic mechanics ha. If you havent played S&S, it is an ideal Switch game.... probably pretty cheap on e-shop. Also, a sequel 'Salt and Sacrifice' will be released in May (Currently only announced for PS4/5, but I would imagine Switch down the line)

@CJD87 😅I downloaded it, put in an hour or two, just havent got around to it. But I liked what I saw. The artwork is reminiscent of dishwasher samurai.

@Wasted_Smuggler I get what you are saying ... God of War and especially Spider-Man got me glued to my PS4 for weeks ...

Spider-Man is just that good.

But I love playing other games as well but PS exclusives are really worth it!

@Anti-Matter Don't you like any challenge in your games at all? Paw Patrol gives me nightmares as I've seen it on repeat being an uncle and He-man used to kidnap my sister's Barbie's back when we were kids.

Lego games are great although very samey so I don't play many these days but looking forward to the Star Wars one.

Cuphead and Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania are two I recommend as they are great looking and offer a challenge. No harm in what you do enjoy playing though as long as your enjoying yourself!

This is kinda weird. It's like only watching TV shows broadcast on HBO or only listening to music if it's on the Subpop label.
