Topic: Sonic Forces.

Anybody getting Sonic Forces on Nov 7th? I am going to pre-order it on the weekend,

Famitsu review seems mostly positive. Last 3D Sonic game I played was the fantastic Sonic Generations. I am kind of getting Generation vibes from Sonic Forces trailers I've seen. In Canada here, Sonic Forces isn't priced as a full retail release, $54CDN on the store and comes with a theme and Shadow DLC.

Getting it here for £27.99. Cant really complain.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
I'm a big fan of modern Sonic & I loved Sonic Generations.

But between holding back review codes , a big Day 1 patch incoming, the 1min demo & the budget price (£27.99 UK), I'm kind of worried.

75+ on metacritic and I'll pick it up launch week.

Let's be honest the game isn't going to rate well but I'm hoping for a 60/70 average. That would be enough for me to pick it up - perhaps not at launch. But I do have a lot of love for the original 3D sonic games on DC...

Im interested but im thinking can anything match sonic mania ?

My copy should arrive Tuesday and I'll be giving it a review by the end of the week (The money has gone out of my account so woo!)

Honestly the biggest fault here isn't actually to do with the game itself: It's that it's coming after Mania. So I wont be drawing any comparisons to Mania, because funnily enough, I'm not reviewing Mania, I'm reviewing Forces, and what does a comparison do to tell me about the game in question? Nothing.

I don't really consider Mania when I think about Forces so suits me to be honest.

@kyleforrester87 I know, but reviews will draw comparisons and outside of footnotes I don't think "Oh X game did this better" is healthy, since...well it doesn't tell you anything about the game being reviewed. It tells you more about the other game instead, and the consumer isn't buying that.

"IT's the Dark Souls of X" just says...well Dark Souls is a thing. Doesn't give any context to this game in question, but its like Dark Souls.

I won't be able to get it due to insufficient monies, but I am interested, yet cautious. I'm glad it's returning to the Colors/Generations formula, but it seems even people who loved those games are unsure about it. I'm personally critical of the art direction and the classic Sonic gameplay, which seems redundant since Mania came out.

I do love what we've been able to hear of the soundtrack, though. I know that's a given with Sonic games, but I'm impessed with even Infinite's theme, which is a style of music I'm not really a fan of.

I just want a Generations 2, not sure if Forces going to deliver

@BLP_Software A comparison tells a lot, to be honest. Getting a more philosophical: games are not experienced in a vacuum, and a rating is always relative to someone else. Comparing a game to another game, within its genre or compared to its predecessor, is actually the only way to place a game in a certain context.

I will agree that not all comparisons are effective, though. And Mania quite good reviews are certainly going to hurt this game's reviews, deservedly or not.

I pre-ordered it last night, I also bought Horizon Zero Dawn this morning on the store. Sonic Forces, Horizon Zero Dawn, Witcher 3, RE7, and 20 other games I need to play lol.. I am going to be very busy after work! I love all those sales on the Store. I am glad I waited on South Park, WWE 2K18 and COD WWII and even Star Wars Battlefront 2.. I'll wait for sales on those titles. I was going to stay up till midnight tonight to play Forces right away, but I work very early in the morning.. I gotta wait to play it after work on Tuesday.

So get this: My download code for the Shadpw costume has arrived (But not the others? Arent they meant to be included in the box?) but Amazon says dispatch today (Its 16:20 now) with arrival by 8pm tomorrow.

Now its 11pm. Watch it be Thursday when I said my review is out Friday. Amazon is bad lately

When I pre-ordered it on the PS Store it came with the following bonuses; a Sonic Forces theme (theme is okay) Persona 5 outfit DLC, a Sega pack DLC (I am sure this is the stuff to dress up the custom character with items from PuyoPuyo, Super Monkey Ball, NiGHTS and Jet Set Radio.) Episode Shadow DLC, and a Shadow costume DLC.

@A-Leal I got the midnight download for Super Mario Odyssey, but because it was a code I got for cheaper sent via Amazon I couldn't pre-load.

I would pre-load if it didn't cost £35. The cheapest options are physical Xbox/PS4. Physical Switch is set the same as digital for...some reason.

£35 is $58 in CDN, I paid $54.99 for Sonic Forces, that's cool you guys got it for that price too, people in Canada like to complain about prices, but they don't realize how much the people in the UK pay.

So found out where it is.

Adobe took money out of my account (Even though I wanted to end my subscription, whatever, another year long ride) and I put more money in Sunday Night. Amazon didn't try and take payment twice.

Amazon didn't tell me there was even a payment issue.
