Hi
Looking to get a headset (with mic) without wires, as i want to free up a USB port and i dont want to buy a powered USB hub.
I cant see to find a bluetooth headset anywhere, for any price? am i missing something?
They all seem to be either USB wireless which needs a usb dongle (ie uses a USB port) or they dont have a mic.

Is it a limitation of bluetooth or maybe they were too unreliable to make?

Thanks if you know anything
Si

You could always get a wired headset that plugs into your controller.

I think they all require a USB dongle. I use my Bose QC35 more often than my PS Gold headphones purely to avoid using up a USB port, but even though they are bluetooth I have to plug the wire in to the controller- and can still use the mic that way

Thanks, So what headset can you use as bluetooth and the mic plugs into the controller? What connection am i looking for.

@Si5000 Well the QC35 has bluetooth and a built in mic. Usually I use it with bluetooth enabled when listening to music, but when I use it to game with I plug the included cable (mini jack lead) into the controller and the headphones. The audio then comes direct from the PS/controller through the lead rather than using bluetooth. But these headphones are quite expensive and I wouldn't actually recommend you get them just for gaming.

@Si5000 yeah those are the ones. No boom but the mic is very clear.

I'm sure others will have better suggestions. Good luck!

You won't be able to use wireless Bluetooth headsets without a usb dongle as PS4 doesn’t support A2DP (that includes Bluetooth devices) or any audio streaming Bluetooth profile. A2DP stands for Advance Audio Distribution Profile, which is stereo music sent over Bluetooth wirelessly.

The reason is that A2DP will be lagged around 100-200ms, and that would make things feel weird when you are using those devices, so you can’t pair most of the Bluetooth devices to PS4.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

thanks Johnny, that be why i cant find one then lol.
I guess the PS5 is the same.
Funny how bluetooth headset works, and a mic plugged into a controller works for speech (which is bluetooth i think), so all thats going over bluetooth anyway.
