Oh PSP, Japan Still Lurveeeeees You!

The Playstation Portable's A Sales Machine In Japan Right Now.

The Playstation Portable's A Sales Machine In Japan Right Now.

Sony’s Playstation Portable is still top of the Japanese hardware charts. This week it managed another 39k sales, with the PS3 mustering 26k. The PSPgo continues to flounder at the bottom of the charts with just over 1,000 units sold in the past week. Pretty disasterous.

But Sony probably won’t care well the regular SKU of their handheld system is topping the charts. Will anything catch it?

PushSquare's Playstation Pick Of The Week: God Of War III.

This week’s Playstation pick is probably the easiest will ever have to write. There are other games this week, but with all due respect, only one game matters. And that is…

Pushsquare’s Playstation Pick Of The Week: God Of War III [EU/US]

Probably the best game on the Playstation 3 to date, God Of War III is a complete and utter spectacle from start to finish. Every Playstation 3 owner should play this game. Every.

Final Fantasy XIII Tops The UK Sales Charts, PS3 SKU Wins The War

No Surprise Seeing Final Fantasy XIII Top The Charts Now Is It?

No Surprise Seeing Final Fantasy XIII Top The Charts Now Is It?

Final Fantasy XIII has shot straight to the top of the UK sales charts, with the PS3 version of the game managing 54% of the sales. Not the hugest of discrepancies between the SKUs, but it’s often rare a PS3 multiplatform game outsells its XBOX 360 rival – particularly when Microsoft have broken the metaphorical bank marketing the game exclusive to their platform.

Most exciting for us about this week’s chart is the position of Heavy Rain, still clutching tightly to the number four spot. Game’s not gonna sell right?

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on Playstation 2 Review

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on Playstation 2 Review.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is genuinely terrifying without ever needing to be grotesque. At times, it feels like the game is toying with you, something which is enhanced by the game’s psychological aspects. It also looks fantastic for a PS2 game, with a lighting engine that really brings the mystery of Silent Hill to life. A real return to form for the franchise.

PushSquare’s Playstation Picks: 8th-14th March 2010

PushSquare's Playstation Pick Of The Week: Final Fantasy XIII.

PushSquare's Playstation Pick Of The Week: Final Fantasy XIII.

It’s a really crazy month here in the PushSquare office. Game-a-geddon is in full swing and no sooner are we done with one game, than we have to move on and get to work on another. Still, at least you’re not going to be bored this month, as not only is there lots to talk about, there’s lots to play. So let’s get started with what’s releasing this week.

PushSquare’s Playstation Pick Of The Week: Final Fantasy XIII [US/EU]

Is it flawed? Absolutely: Final Fantasy XIII takes far too long to get going and when it finally does gather steam, it’s hard to pick up the enthusiasm to keep playing. Still, it boasts a fantastic universe, some interesting characters and stunning CGI cut-scenes. Oh, and the battle system is pretty nifty too.

Also:

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition launches in the US, which is well worth a look if you’re yet to play Capcom’s next-gen horror shooter. SEGA release Yakuza 3 on the West at last in both Europe and the USA (please buy it, someone has to). On the PSN, Mega Man 10 is due a release in the ol’ USA – get ready to throw you controller at the wall.

Whadda’re Ya’ Buyin’?
