Heavy Rain: The Movie - Not-So-Interactive Drama.

Heavy Rain: The Movie - Not-So-Interactive Drama.

What if interactive drama wasn’t quite so interactive? It would be a movie right? Of course it would. And while it would never happen, it’s been discovered that copyright documents exist for such a thing. Apparently, in May 2006 New Line Cinema grabbed the rights for a Heavy Rain movie.

It’s totally never going to come out of course. But y’know. It’s interesting all the same.

The Prince Of Persia Movie Continues To Whet Our Whistle

A new trailer for the upcoming Prince Of Persia movie was shown off at last night’s Super Bowl. It continues to look surprisingly amazing. So we take issue with an American being cast as a Brit for the lead role of the Prince Of Persia, but, yo, look at all that sand.

Also: Gemma Arterton.

No SCEE Michael Jackson Love We're Afraid.

There's No SCEE Michael Jackson Love We're Afraid.

If you’re a hardcore British gamer who likes nothing more than chillin’ to the back catalogue of Michael Jackson – then you’re out of luck. Sony has confirmed to VG247 that there are no plans to bring the recently announced “This Is It” bundle to the UK.

The bundle’s due for release in Japan later this month. Guess you’ll just have to make do with like a PS3, and a copy of the “This Is It” blu-ray. Seperately. Think about it though: it’s the same thing.

Sony Are Increasing The Storage Capacity Of Blu-Ray Discs

You're To Receive 8GB More Space On Future Blu-Rays. Blimey.

You're To Receive 8GB More Space On Future Blu-Rays. Blimey.

If you’re a developer planning on sticking more cut-scenes in your game, then rejoice. Sony and Panasonic have announced that they are planning to increase the storage capacity of the blu-ray disc from 25GB to 33.4GB.

The report from Nikkei states the technology “assumes inter-symbol interference, which makes it difficult to base optical disc quality evaluation on jitter, as is widely done now for Blu-ray and many other optical discs.” Quite.

All blu-ray players with the ability to firmware update will support the new technology, and the space increase will be compatible with dual-layered blu-rays – enabling the possibility of a 66.8GB disc.

Dude.

European Playstation Movie Store To Get 50+ New Films Each Week

Sony Intend To Add 50 Movies A Week To The European Video Store.

Sony Intend To Add 50 Movies A Week To The European Video Store.

Having had chance to browse around the Playstation Video Store this morning, we have to say we are very impressed. The pricing is more than reasonable and the range of content on offer is already staggering. It’s a flawless update from the folks at SCEE, and we have to congratulate them on that.

But with 2000 movies already on offer from the service, you’d be forgiven for thinking SCEE might let the service settle a while before receiving another update. That’s not going to be the case however, as European product director Mark Hardy assures us “the plan is to update the store on a weekly basis and add a minimum of 50 movies every time we update.”

While we’ve no doubt that number will eventually slow down a little, it’s really great to hear Sony’s committment to the service. We’ve already got 10-15 movies ear-marked for rent, and we’re sure that number is only going to increase. The problem is, there aren’t enough hours in the day.
