Re: Japan's Most Desired Console Is the PlayStation Vita

goldgin

I would agree with @rastamadeus and @nathanuc1998.
Until great games arrive, there are some excellent psp games on psn for less if you don't already own them, such as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Dissidia games, God of War titles, Metal Gear titles and great Tactics games among others. Some of the above are also rated the best of their respective categories. An opportunity to play old classics like FFIX and Vagrant Story is also an option to keep you busy.

@theblackdragon, please check thefreedictionary.com/sexist.
I am happily married with 2 children, I would appreciate it if you didn't call me sexist again unless you know what it means. I would be sexist if I said female gamers can't play games, or if I said games with female characters are crap. I am not sexist when I provide statistics about female protagonists.
I called Square-Enix amateurs for not paying attention to this statistic, even more-so at a moment when FF games are at risk of bad criticism.
Mario sells because he saves the Princess and not the other way around. It is statistically true, not my fault, and not called sexist.

I was talking about sales and popularity, I am not sexist, what does this have to do with anything I've said? I don't know why they are not popular but I could try giving my short experience below:
I loved X, after spending a few hours on X-2 it just never felt engrossing as I am male and the character female. Considering there is traditionally romance in jrpgs, it just made no sense. This doesn't occur in other game types with female protagonists like Tomb Raider or Metroid, as they are not rpg's. I can't imagine playing Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Mass Effect or The Witcher as a female on my first play-through either.
I like the option on my second play-throughs. I am also sure the ever-increasing female gamers out there enjoy picking a female character in some of those games. Until they exceed male gamers, male protagonist games will sell better... that's all.

Re: Rumour: Monster Hunter 4 Is Clawing Its Way onto PS Vita

@ohhaime, thanks for the heads up, I was still under the impression MH4 was yet to be announced in the west so I just used MH3U as a comparison, which, no matter how much more content it may include, can't make up for lack of network play (for some people anyway). I definitely recommend MH3U 3DS if you don't already own TRI though.

I was hoping for this as I wanted a portable version but already owned tri on wii so 3ds purchase seemed abundant. Plus the Vita has better gfx while supporting network capabilities (sorry 3ds owners)... is it too much to ask for PS3 cross-purchase, cross-play too???

Re: Kaz Hirai: PS Vita Sales Are on the Low End of Expectations

If you are a european gamer you would be a fool not getting one for xmas. For 199euros you get the little-big planet pack and with any of the free 30 day ps plus promotions running during the holidays, you get uncharted, gravity rush, mortal combat and now jet set radio plus a few minigames, freemiums and apps always available on psn for free: ecolibrium, treasure park, jetpack joyride, zen pinball all free!!! It's a gamers paradise!
I am disappointed that it doesn't sell well, especially in Japan, it makes no sense, it's a console in your hands!
The only letdown is remote play... but I'm sure the one to blame here is the power of the ps3... I am betting all my money on proper remote play with ps4 though.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Christmas?

goldgin

Disappointed by Assasins Creed for Vita, I'll be playing ps+ freebies Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush and Mortal Combat on sony's handheld. Pretty satisfied by my purchase of it this xmas. By the way, I stopped visiting NLife for the exact same reason: too many comments, tweets etc... it goes both ways

Re: Konami Opens New PES Studio in London

They should just release one product every 3 years, updating the roster and fixing bugs with paid dlc during this lifecycle. They should also stop paying licences, make the roster file easily exportable/editable/importable instead so that the community can release 'unofficial' roster updates. Most people buy the next iteration for the updated teams, taking advantage of this is rather 90's practice and should be banned.

Re: Wonderbook: Book of Spells Enchants PlayStation 3

goldgin

During E3 I spotted a few issues with this. Other than the part where the user couldn't perform the unlock spell, there was some also some accidental ceiling shooting during the fire spell minigame, where an additional fire spell shot upwards every time the girl lifted her hand. I know kids are supposed to just be immersed and fool around with it but my opinion is that it'll likely be more of a frustration towards parents, being disrupted every minute the children fail to perform the various gestures.
Basically, I think it's TOO interactive, they could have just asked J K Rowling to write the same short stories about Potter and present it as a nice book reading with pictures coming to life in 3d... sold!

Re: EA Promises "Game-Changing Innovations" for FIFA 13

goldgin

Glad to see the tone of disbelief in the story, they deserve it. I sticked with Fifa 10 the last few years and I'll probably pass 13 too as it seems they haven't even bothered fixing online & master league issues talked about furiously on EA forums. Even worse, they are spending valuable work hours porting the game on every device with a screen, what's next, Smart TVs?

Re: Feature: PlayStation 3's Best Games

valkyria? uncharted and gow? I own them all, but Cod and fifa have been battling over my ps3 for 2 years now. Sales also speak the same, this list smells like a journey to wealth.
