@NEStalgia yeah I agree, I mean, also the US gov has been keen on having the upper hand on anything tech related, and I believe they'd rather have an American company in the lead than allowing a Japanese company (whose government is very protectionist and constantly manipulative of their economy) like Sony, or worse, a China's Tencent, gobble up the market.
@Immortal_Barnet Somehow, I don't see the American government stopping an American company for the benefit of Chinese (Tencent) and Japanese (Sony) companies. Could be wrong, of course, but that's not like the US government. Maybe the European Union?
Can't help to feel Sony overplayed their hand. They were hell-bent in destroying Xbox by moneyhatting (temporarily or permanently) every third party they could get their hands on (lately: Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, Persona, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, Knights of the old Republic, Starfield itself), they woke up the sleeping behemoth.
