@PuppetMaster I loved XI, and really liked 1-4. I'm halfway through V and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought 8 was so boring, and over-hyped. So don't waste your time if you didn't like DQ XI. It's an unpopular opinion but I don't think VIII has aged as well some of the other entries, and people gush about the story, but the end plays out like the most basic 90s rom-com. I did play it on 3DS though, so take that for what it's worth. The PS2 version might be better.
@IntrepidWombat Oh, thanks. Yeah, I have actually played Sky and Crossbel. The dilemma is whether or not to halt my progression to play a remake of the game I've already played, vs continuing on in the series. It looks so good, I'm having a hard time imagining playing six more trails games before going back to Sky remake. Thanks for the reply!
It really does look incredible, and from what the trailers show it looks like they have captured the spirit of of the original. I'm only on Trails of of Cold Steel Steel III though, so should I wait until I have caught up to Beyond the Horizon to play it??? That is the big question.
@rjejr Here is browser AI response that I received. AI Overview "Yes, Tim Rogers is a big fan of Dragon Quest VII. He has stated that it's one of his top three favorite Dragon Quest games and even considers its time travel narrative to be as good as Chrono Trigger's. He also believes it's better than Dragon Quest VIII and IX. In a review, he described it as a game that's meant to be played in a relaxed, serial manner, like a bedtime story. "
The guy loves Dragon Quest, and it is one of his top 3 favorites, and the only one on the PS1. I am pretty sure it would be on his personal top 5 list, or very soon after, even if it wasn't included in a PS classics list he discussed with the West in mind.
@nessisonett 😂 Why so harsh? I must be a child at heart, because I just drank up all that slop as quickly as I could. I loved Cold Steel I and II. I did play it in Japanese though, so there's that. Some of the failings may come down to localization. Sky trilogy was great but the door scenes you mentioned have been tampered with in later releases (at least in Japan) due to ratings concerns. I played the evolution version of 3rd, and had to go to YouTube for the full Renne backstory.
@Gryzor Thank you. I kept reading and scrolling, wondering if someone had stepped in to course correct the comments. I played it on 3DS, but the PS version was indeed a big deal in Japan, and many people still consider it to be up there with the best. I am unable to ask him, but judging from things he has said on his streams I would expect to find DQ VII (for PS) among Tim Roger's top 5 PS1 games.

Re: Trails in the Sky PS5 Remake Reportedly Double the Length of Original Game
@NieR_Dark
It sounds like they are re-recording it, from the trailers. It's still not orchestrated, but oh well.

I didn't ever imagine being only 40hrs...
