@get2sammyb Wardie knows what he's talking about. And he didn't say they were building 2 systems. Just like Microsoft didn't build 2 different systems. They only changed coding to eliminate the DRM features. Both companies were preparing for the switch over to streaming and digital media. It was their way of "easing" people into it. And yes Sony did have multiple press scripts. For one, that all came out during the big hack/leak a while back. And any multi-billion dollar company would do the same. They always have contingencies in place to cover their ass and protect their bottom line. It's not that hard for them to grab a different script off the table after hearing people's reactions to the XB1 conference and also seeing it immediately on Twitter/Twitch chat.
@WARDIE This looks so good! This and Doom are pretty much the only purchases I plan to make for the forseeable future. If you can I would highly recommend picking this one up.
This is awesome! I hope Playstation continues to offer up more demos. With all the amazing games out there, AAA and indie alike, there needs to be more "try before you buy" options. There's just simply not enough time and/or money for gamers to enjoy all of these at once. At least with demos/betas we are able to get a better idea of if the game fits our personal tastes/playstyle.
@WARDIE Too true. And really what does this mean for the future of Driveclub? It's a game I constantly go back to. Especially due to the fact they have consistently kept updating it with fixes and new content, that grabs me back in. It really is sad though that yet ANOTHER studio is closing. Just in the past month I've heard of 2 other major studio closings.
@WARDIE You hit the nail on the head buddy. This thing has so much potential. Especially for folks who are artists/animators like myself who like things to feel more "traditional" while still utilizing the speed and convenience of digital. I do worry a bit about there being a single player campaign. Just because, as with other Media Molecule games, you have to play through the whole thing just simply to unlock all the components you use for building. Hopefully the sculpting feature will combat that. But for real this thing could replace Maya or 3D Studio Max as the standard for 3D work and animation. I'm a bit surprised that they are making this as a game rather than it's own standalone 3D design program.
Great show guys! I completely agree on the "indie game" pricing issue. I'm from the camp that thinks a game should be priced more according to what the player gets out of it, rather than if it simply has a major publisher. Games like Galak-Z or Rocket League get so much more enjoyment out of them than some of the larger games that cost more. But as for Crash Bandicoot, they don't need him for the nostalgia, they need him as a mascot. And maybe need is a strong word. Ratchet and Clank may do the trick, but if they don't then Sony wants their "all age appropriate" mascot back.
