I used to always trade in my games back in the day. I'm finally at a point in my life where I can buy lots of games. Always check for physical first for games I'm really excited for due to the joy of receiving them and building a collection I could only dream about 6 or 7 years ago and prior. I've bought dozens of discs this year. I think a lot of gamers who are tight on money, and a lot who have disposable income buy physical. I am bummed to lose that joy and not happy about Sony having no competition for its game sales after 2028 aside from maybe 3rd party codes, which is essentially the same as buying from Sony, and being forced into a controlled market. The only Sony exclusive I really care about is GoW, and it's not really high on my list. Definitely going to keep buying Nintendo if they at least have reusable key cards for the collectability, and being able to share. Switching to PC though for non-Nintendo games so I at least have some choice for where I buy digital. I am hoping Sony will come up with something other than codes that is reusable, but if they don't, I'm out. I just went and ordered/preordered a bunch of discs, some of which I had wishlisted on PSN.
If the reason Sony is doing this is to make consoles a little cheaper by not having to add a disk drive, and produce less plastic waste per game purchase then they could do a key-card type thing like Nintendo that could be traded or reused (I guess that is its own type of waste though). They could make something that uses a USBC port which they will always have on consoles unless they replace it with a different type of port. I wish that was the reason, but Sony is doing this to monopolize the marketplace, and milk more money out of game sales.
I got sucked into the Like a dragon series but I don't like the main line yakuzas because I like turn-based. That being said I'm still going to check out stranger than fiction. I did enjoy Pirate Yakuza. @Dragonaged Isn't Stranger Than Fiction really just a prequel Yakuza title focused on earlier decades? I don't see how you could call yourself a Yakuza fan and not be interested in this game. It might be able to attract fans of both series. Still these sales goals are way unrealistic they would both be lucky to get close to 3 to 3.5 million
Crimson Desert 450+ hours so far. Near the end but I like to beat every side quest in a game before beating it and there's a LOT. My backlog is getting insane!
DD2 was definitely in my top 5 of 2025. I still remember the joy of riding the Sphinx across the world to a locked region in the game fairly early. So many amazing moments aside from the lackluster plot.
Is there a really big difference between using Twitter and commenting in an online article? I don't use twitter or FB or any of that but once in a blue moon, but feel like socializing online about how using social apps online is bad is a bit of an odd point of pride.
I'd much prefer Pearl Abyss's approach of being super responsive to fan feedback than a game that might release in a better state with little to no follow up based on the played experience in the wild, but I'm a console player where there isn't the option to do official beta tests before wide release.
