Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

I can't believe you'd rip hope for Dark Cloud away from me like this .

Excellent article. The opportunity cost in seeing a team work on a remaster for a game that runs perfectly well on modern platforms, versus a new, smaller project in the same universe even I think is what gets me the most. Give us a more fleshed-out Machine Strike as a $20 standalone game that takes 6 months to make. Make a top-down hack n slash platformer in the Horizon universe. Many ways to let young talent shine and get up to speed than spend time on something that already works.

@get2sammyb I love seeing your twitter posts on your gatcha rolls, so glad to see this game holds up well on PS5! Genshin 'suffers' from adding important lore into its time-limited event content, does Star Rail suffer from the same? I hate missing important lore because I wasn't playing a game at the right time, so I don't want to get too serious about a game that I might miss important information by just not being there. Appreciate your insight!

Re: Dying Light 2 Major Update Improves Combat System, Adds Transmog on 20th April

I love that they continue to update the game, but I have such a love/hate relationship with practices like this. I usually only play single player games once through , so I generally wait for the game to be in it's best state before I play (Unless it's some big blockbuster I want to play immediately GOW, Horizon, etc). The continued improvements just keep pushing this game back for me, when I keep asking what else they could add that could make the experience that much better, and the longer I wait the cheaper I'll be able to pick up the game as well. It's a weird feeling.

Wow, this article and the comments section speak to exactly how polarizing GaaS are! Props to Liam for writing a great opinion piece and explaining his position well. Not everyone has to agree with either stance, but it's clear where most on this website fall. MMO's have been doing GaaS for a very long time successfully, so getting mini-MMO qualities in certain games can be really great. Often that's not how it happens in practice, but I also feel I get my money's worth out of a GaaS game with the initial purchase and if I want more I'm willing to spend more. Those games were I'm willing to are few and far between, but it shouldn't stop devs from trying. The market will always support whatever direction makes them money.

One of the generations best. ND are masters of their craft and despite your feeling on the direction of the story, you can't deny how beautiful the game is. All the small details and world building that ND made were great. Do yourself a favor and play the game for yourself someday, even if you pick it up months later on the cheap. Don't let the internet hive mind dictate how you feel about something

@TheDude89 @H4ilhydra

I think the "Just wait 3 or 4 years and you can have a better version" is kind of the point though. How many games get 'remastered' versions some time after the base game has been out? And those games continue to sell well. If anything, people will play this 4 year old game on the PC, get hyped about Forbidden West, and then want to buy a PS5 because they don't want to wait another 4 years per Hydra's point. IMO it's a great business decision. Why leave money on the table?
