I played this for a good long while when it came out on GamePass, it was really good but I’m not interested in playing again for price.Glad that people who o op not have a PS5 can finally play it.
It’s a great game though and I’m not generally a racing fan, also the classical musical station is ace, especially when you’re listening to it hurtling down the side of a Volcano.
Sony seem to be walking from one dumpster fire to another at the moment, what next is Jim Ryan going to tell people that stacked discounted ps plus subs to ‘get a second job’ to afford the upgrade. I feel that Sony went from a PS2 level triumph of generation back to their PS3 narcism, in the blink of an eye.
@TommyNL sometimes the issue isn’t that you do something, it’s the way that you do it. Sony have had really poor communication with their fan base for quite some time now turning off the ability to use psn top ups of all kinds ( which many users reported in Europe) is the nuclear option.
A lot of Sony’s fans have been drawn to their ecosystem not only through their products but also through the way that they protrayed themselves think the Shawn Layton - Shuhei Yoshida how to use lend games instructional video.
The current PlayStation is so far off the boil it’s not even funny and they arguably have a weaker product than their competitor ie: GamePass. Good will is important even for bullion dollar corporations.
Sony seem to be channeling the spirit of E3 2006 lately with a lot of their decisions and marketing communications , it’s really souring me on the brand. I was super excited for this generation and the PS5 in particular, but I now buy most games on the Series X and use my Vitas more than my PS5.
This really isn’t the same Sony that started the PS4 generation and unfortunately I think this poor tone is being set from the top. I’m no longer surprised by their massive PR misteps and I’ve come to expect it. You would think that a company which had managed to get people excited to pay a subscription to play a load of games many of their hardcore fans already own would be counting their blessings but hey ….
I love the Switch it’s the true successor to the Vita/Vita TV. It’s an maxing console with some truly fantastic games BOTW and Mario Odyssey were a true joy to play. I’m playing through SMT V atm and I’m loving it, my backlog is chocked full of other great RPGS as well. Metroid dread was pretty cool but I preferred fusion.
I wish the build quality was a little better I’ve had launch day model and myself and my partner have put some serious hours into Tetris 99 maybe 300 and never had an issue with drift and I play it almost exclusively handheld. I’ve upgraded to the new OLED (Vita 2) and hope that I’m lucky with this one as well.
I’m really looking forward to the Steam Deck though and I think that might become my home for 3rd party handheld games when I get one.
The Vita was a such an amazing handheld, that had so much to give but was hobbled severely by Sony’s mismanagement of it.
I still have two gorgeous Vitas an OLED and blue slim.
I’m massively into JRPGs so the handheld was perfect for me.
Here’s my top 10 anyway
1. Persona 3 Portable
2. Persona 4 Golden
3. Rayman Origins
4. Shovel Knight
5. FFX Remaster
6. Danganrompa 1
7. Gravity Rush
8. Killzone Mercenary
9. Thomas was Alone
10. Three Fourths Home
I’m about 25 hours into Trails of Cold Steel 1, I put it down in 2020 and haven’t picked it back up.I plan on getting back to it and if I do I think it might make the list, such an amazing game to have on the Vita.
@get2sammyb Unfortunately there’s so many little issues with PSN that affect the user experience. PSN has always been a little janky, I remember the PS3 store haha.
One of the things that annoys me is that you can’t switch your country of your PSN account. I moved from Ireland to the UK years back and all my trophies and PS plus stuff are tied to my Irish account, so I have to use dodgy key sites to purchase PS plus or PSN credit so I don’t get locked out of my PSN. I then use separate account solely to purchase my games in the UK.
It might sound trivial but it’s those little bits of friction that annoy me the most haha.
I finished Shadow of the Tomb recently to finish off the trilogy, it was a fun game with some amazing set pieces.
It neither of the sequels really hit the heights of the original TR reboot for me and the writers never really got me to care for the characters.
Still it was a fun series and it’s sad that the series never met recent sales expectations, I think that Xbox one exclusivity deal really shot Rise in the foot.
I don’t get why Sony are continuing to gouge UK customers this gen. Taking the exchange rates into account £70 games are extremely expensive and the sales price is still more expensive than the US. I’ve gotten to the stage where I now by all my multiplats in the series X or on PC either Steam or Epic where it’s more affordable.
I really hope they don't ditch turn based, Final Fantasy has been a hot mess since they ditched turn based going from one meh battle system to another. Dragon Quest 11 is amazing because it stays true to itself and feels like a series that has a soul, I hope they don't tarnish this.
I think its pretty aggressive from Sony to pull the plug and only give a few months, I think that they should have given at least a year especially as they were selling Vita Dev Kits until about a month ago.
Sony is clearly returning back to their PS3 era hubris and their behavior leaves an acrid taste in my mouth, they clearly have contempt for both their customers and the developers on their platform it seems. As Sony are going back to their PS3 ways, I think I will too and wait maybe two-three years before picking up a pre-owned PS5. I'll be able to pick up most of the physical games for pennies in the pound, and just stick to PS4, PC and Switch.

@Narcissus92 I know you can add PS plus games to your library using the webstore I always do that if I haven’t got Sony’s newest platform.

Pretty Blah month hopefully this month is just rubbish as Sony’s gearing up for a new PS Plus package.
At least there’s still Tales of Arise to keep me occupied.
