I think a interesting part of this story that is NOT discussed, is that the main reason MS bought activision at this moment is precisely BECAUSE of the accusations at Blizzard/Acti and the lukewarm reception of CoD vanguard. These scenarios brought stock prices down nearly 5% for acti, which made the MS purchase more about timing than anything. They got another large stable of IPs and got them at a 5% discount. Still, not the end of the world by any means, and Sony still has its own killer studios and its own gamepass of sorts on the way. That said come on Sony, wheres that resistance/Killzone reboot? Gonna need it now that CoD is gone...

From MS statement: "The acquisition also bolsters Microsoft’s Game Pass portfolio with plans to launch Activision Blizzard games into Game Pass..." Gamepass = exclusivity. Thats it. CoD is a Xbox exclusive now, sparing Warzone and whatever existing deals are still on the table. Just like Bethesda, all CoD going forward are xbox/pc exclusive, for better or worse.
@Ralizah Sony should absolutely scoop up SE and Capcom if possible, at least if only for exclusivity deals. It will allow them to stay diverse and competitive. Besides, if they dont...MS might buy them next!

Gamepass = exclusivity. There will be no more CoD on PS. Thats it. Maybe Warzone and whatever currently existing deals will be honored, but thats likely it.
@LightningLeader Sony cannot afford those companies. Sony's net worth as of 1Q 2022 is $152B. Microsoft just spent half of Sonys net worth like it was a kids allowance. Even more shocking is apparently they are not done. Theres already talk of more acquisitions. This, one year or so after the $7B Bethesda acquisition. MS is REALLY trying to pad their gamepass lineup, and isnt afraid to make it rain. Sony should tie up Capcom and Square Enix before its too late!
@NinjaSixx I tend to agree actually, FIFA has been a bug riddled mess for years, each release being basically a broken reskin at this point. Same with Madden. At end of the day, if you have gamepass on a xbox or pc, you can now enjoy the annual reskin day one for a pittance. That said tho, Id absolutely LOVE another Fight Night...
If or when Microsoft buys EA, (which may happen as they certainly have the cash on hand)...THEN Sony is in serious trouble. Until then Im just REALLY glad I got both consoles!
