I was unable to play my downloaded games on my portal, because of the PSN downtime. I honestly didn't check to see if I'd be able to play on the console.
Id still argue, that streaming downloaded/physical games on peripherals like the portal should be possible when PSN is having technical difficulties....1st world problem and all...
@Member_the_game it definitely is a 1st world problem, but that doesn't mean, that Sony shouldn't take measures to avoid these breakdowns in the future
Sony needs to add some flexibility into their online validation checks.
Our most valuable ressource as consumers today are our often limited free time, so being locked out of playing my favourite game for more than 12 hrs yesterday is unacceptable.
I also hope that Sony are taking measures to fend off cyber attacks in the future, that can take down their digital framework, as this is definitely going to be a thing in the future.
Surely, it's possible to do these validation checks in a way that doesn't completely lock out the consumer.
It's just nice to see, in this day and age, a developer who's not compromising on his ethics and values...
...And at the same time highlighting the cringe inducing reality of what's legal to put in your games aimed at kids, who becomes sittings ducks for the greedy corporate machines whose only motivation is profit margins.
Finally caved and resubscribed. The yearly premium sub with a 30% discount, with cloud streaming on the Portal is a total game changer for me, and finally adds a reasonable value for the sub.
@khayl great review. Could you elaborate on the mass effect spiritual successor line? I'm a huge fan of ME , but wasn't able to pull through OS2, because of the intricate mechanics...
Big fan of these kinds of articles, that are well written, and at the same time encourage you to reflect upon your own experience with a monumental game like ER.

Oh and btw, I'm still shell shocked from my encouter with dark souls III, where I rage quit the first boss, I'm not even considering playing Bloodborne...all though I did recently install the game...sigh
As someone who's never been a ps gamer until i got a hold of a ps5 recently. Extra looks enticing.
Im not sold on a huge game library, as ive found to only play a select few games intensely. As a current xsx gamepass ultimate sub i know now that it probably was overkill. Purchased elden ring for r both game consoles, says it all.
I find ps extra a good deal, as ghost of tsusima is on my wishlist as well as death stranding.
