@johnedwin Unless its an established franchise such as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
But I do agree (And this is coming from someone that really likes Metaphor); Even though The Game Awards do acknowledge JRPG games by nominating them (Persona 5 I think was the trailblazer that ignited the rise of JRPG games getting nominated.), the public voting will be too dismissive towards Japanese games unless as I said is a established franchise.
@KillerBoy I can never understand why gamers are dismissive towards smaller indie games getting GOTY nod, shouldn't we be grateful for indie devs to shine that have done a better job than majority of AAA games this year? (I love the David v Goliath scenarios, especially when indie gem Vampire Survivors won BAFTA Game of The Year over AAA games such as Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok).
@ashipaw The sales may have declined, but the franchise is still generating considerable revenue (Aside from LIS 2 which was a way less then its predecessors) and a healthy appeal (Especially on Twitch). True Colors for example had the fastest franchise selling copy to reach 100,000 sales ($5m revenue) in its debut month.
Its nice to revisit Life is Strange once again! Last time I played this franchise was "Before The Storm" (I wasn't really interested in LIS2 and True Colors).
Atlus are having a blast of a year with Persona 3 Reload, Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance and Unicorn Overlord (Technically developed by Vanillaware, but Atlus was also involved)! Metaphor is gradually becoming my game of the year so far.
@JDINCINERATOR "Yes, Lollipop Chainsaw has some lavish style and attempts at humor, but its intellect is as short as Juliet's miniskirt" I wouldn't say its a wild exaggeration. You've pretty much summarized why Lollipop Chainsaw is a certified cult classic, purely because of its self-awareness on its ridiculousness.
On a side-note, thank goodness I didn't pick this remaster, I've heard its plagued with bugs and performance glitches on launch.
@Anti-Matter I too love to see a disc release, but seeing that Frontier's recent release F1 Manager 24 was Digital Only, I'm afraid they'll probably follow suite with Planet Coaster 2 as a digital release only (For now anyway, as they've finally got a physical release of Planet Zoo later this month!).
YES, YESSS! I absolutely love the Investigations games, especially the second AAI game (Even though it was fan translated), so seeing it finally localised has made my day!
@RedRiot193 Persona 5 Strikers is actually a sequel to Persona 5 and not Persona 5 Royal. Also baring in mind, both Strikers and Royal were in development at the same time.
It's worth noting that the tournament that EGX organised is sponsored by Barclays Bank, a notorious bank with heavy links financially to fossil fuel companies that is responsible for the climate crisis. Perhaps the anger should be taken at the organisers themselves for sponsoring such a unethical company. Not the first time gaming has links to fossil fuel (Fortnite x Shell).

I Object, to the witness's talkativeness.
Re: Vast Majority of Gamers Say Elden Ring DLC Should Never Have Been Nominated for Game of the Year
"DLC, expansion packs, remakes, remasters, and even new seasons of existing games are eligible for Game of the Year".
In that case, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection certainly should be among that got snubbed.
