Re: PS5 'Superior' to Xbox Series X in a Lot of Ways, But Devs Seem Disappointed by Sony's Communication

Why do you people even give a damn about the marginal differences in power? That is not what matters anymore. Even Cerny was telling you this if you actually paid attention.

The quality of the experience is what matters now. Load times, accessibility, immersion, game choice. So you psuedo gamers out there desperate for some kind of validation to your self importance need to just quit crying about which console is more powerful. It doesn't matter. They are close enough to each other already.

Now let's talk about exclusives. They matter just as little. None of you can honestly tell me you strictly play exclusives more than you do third party titles. While exclusives are great experiences, they are more or less one and done titles until the next in the series releases. Third party titles take up most of your game time real estate.

Next is the culture. Gaming is very swiftly becoming a united cultural entity across the globe. It is all about access now and especially in the coming years. Yes, I'm talking about crossplay and cross progression. These two virtual components are the future of the industry whether any of you want to admit it or not. Bringing all players, regardless of platform, together only enhances the gaming experience.

Platforms can't be looked at solely based on their "power level." That is ridiculous at this point. What we need to look at is the total experience, the features, the programs in place that enhance the gaming experience.

Right now, Microsoft takes it in a complete package sense. Xbox has the best options for backward compatability. The Game Pass has phenomenal title AND offers all first party exclusives as part of the deal on launch day. Xbox Live has historically been and still is one of the most solid online infrastructures in gaming. The Xbox Insider program goes leaps and bounds above anything in the console space in improving the gaming experience via direct input from actual gamers. They design controllers for those that can't play themselves. They are the first console designers to 100% be open to crossplay and cross progression. This company, time and again, exhibit that they are for gamers. Since Spencer took over the Xbox division, the platform/service has exponentially increased in quality and direction. Gold has, in my opinion, better game selection month to month. But again, that is subjective.

Sony has been resting on its laurels too long. They've lost touch with what gamers really want and it is showing. They have exclusives, yes, but I've covered their relevance above already. Exclusives are relegated to the realm of subjective opinion. They are not a valid factual argument as to console quality. PS Now is, honestly, atrocious. The PSN is ok, but it is not on par with Xbox Live. Their backward compatibility approach is inferior. Sony is hesitant and reluctant to allow all gamers to play together. Even more so against allowing progress to be shared across platforms. Plus has lower quality games, in my opinion, that Live. But as I stated above, that too is subjective.

I left PlayStation this gen at the first denial of cross play with other platforms. I instinctively knew at that point Sony wasn't really creating for the gamer. It was creating for itself. Phil Spencer, while yes shooting for profits, genuinely is trying to create a pro-gamer (not professional gamer) environment. And honestly, I don't regret leaving. I didn't get to play Spider-Man, and I don't feel like I missed anything. The experience I came into on Xbox was so rich and plentiful that I had no issues with regret.

My point is, people need to wake up. Get this console war crap out of their heads, because there isn't one. That time is over and you people need to move on. Exclusives don't matter. Power doesn't matter. Services and experience do. Right now, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, Xbox has that in spades. Sony needs to give itself a slap in the face or, at one point or another, it will falter.
