Alright so I just finished the remake today and have some thoughts
First, I honestly think you are delusional. I've read the ultimatum as well and clearly aligns with what @Riftwalker has said. Honestly you're either blind or just don't want to accept the truth, its there plain and simple. It seems like its YOU who doesn't know how to read.
Second they never said they are going to 'stick to the original story', (maybe you're not blind but simply a liar). They said they will adopt core elements, having an alternative timeline can still easily fit that description, its not the identical remaster you keep attempting to push forward.
Third, in the "extra scene". The one involving Tifa, its her who's the one that comes to Cloud and hugs him. Cloud literally stands still for like 5 seconds straight, and is then compelled to hug her back after she's crying. On the other hand in the Aerith scene, its Cloud that goes for Aerith. He's the one who is actively expressing interest in her. The fact that you try to dismiss that as 'no proof' is just pathetic, only shows how desperate you are in not wanting to accept the truth.
Fourth, In the original game , Cloud did not inherit Zack’s memories, if he did, he would have a reaction when he met Zack’s parents in Gongaga and even recognize Aerith in first meeting and all the people Zack met. But nope, it’s a common misconception. He just has a fabricated image of himself as a First Class Soldier. Moreover in the remake, when anything shatters with his adopted persona he gets a migraine is confused for a second as conflicting memories flood in. He doesn't get any of that during this scene. So when he says "Do I get a say in all this?" with that resolute, straight-forward tone it's basically him saying, "no, these feelings are mine and mine alone," with no shred of ambiguity.
TLDR I legitimately do not see how @Riftwalker and @Daenerys are giving opinions, if you look at it objectively everything that said is a factual recount of what happened. You are the one who is being ignorant and dismissing it as 'no proof'. Idk if that's just you being arrogant, or you simply don't want to accept the truth? but regardless you should look at yourself before telling other people that they 'lack respect'. Sorry if I came off as a bit harsh, but I just cannot stand hypocrites.
