Re: Xbox Fans Petitioning for Helldivers 2 to Launch on Xbox

I’d love to see Helldivers on XBox, but there’s no way it’s going to happen. Nintendo and Sony both know that guarding and milking your exclusives is the way to sell consoles, and Microsoft just doesn’t have enough great first party IP (until Blizzard) to leverage that effectively - Halo is great but it’s not enough to carry the platform. Phil said years ago that Microsoft’s gaming future was cloud and subscription model, which means they don’t have to worry about selling consoles like Nintendo and Sony do, they just need to sell as many subscriptions as possible. I think with the Blizzard acquisition they’re on the right track, now they just need people outside their traditional console base to sign up for GamePass and getting some solid games on PlayStation and Switch are a grey way to start. Sea of Thieves is much better today than it was 6 years ago. Fantastic game!

Re: Reaction: What Happens to PlayStation if Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard?

Honestly I think everyone wins here except PlayStation. Players will finally be able to play CoD and Diablo games on GeForce Now and XBox Cloud. There are already plenty of amazing PS exclusives but MS needs to buy studios that can make their exclusives and that’s fine. Nintendo and Sony are too far ahead with their exclusives for MS to catch up any other way, and a 3 horse race is best for consumers. CoD itself is a great franchise, but not substantially better than Battlefield. I’m also glad that these games will come to Game Pass. I like subscription models especially with games costing $70-100 now.

Re: PS4 Quietly Crosses Four Million Units Milestone in Japan

Better solution for Nintendo would be to focus 100% on iOS and Android, and fully support Bluetooth controllers like the Nimbus SteelSeries (while not requiring controllers). There really isn't much of a 3rd party lineup coming for Switch - just like Wii and Wii U - but the first party IP is phenomenal. Imaging Mario 3D, Zelda Breath of Time etc. on phones. Japan (and the rest of the world) would eat it up.

Re: Want Dino Title Ark: Survival Evolved to Bite PS4? Ask Sony

I have the early access on my XB1 but I'd really rather have it on PS4. The system's simply more powerful and I think the frame rate and resolution will be better. I love early access myself because it gives developers feedback on how WE play the game and not just how QA testers play the game. It also helps iron out scaling issues especially where lots of users hit the servers at once. For example, right now only 70 users at a time can be logged in to a single server. But there's no log in queue so it's a retry button mash to get in during busy times. Also, right now some people are building bases on top of spawn points, which are essentially cages for new players because you don't have authority to open the front gate of the walls. These are just a few things I'm sure will be resolved before the game is released, but if they didn't do pre-release, they probably never would have found these to be a problem. And really they need console because console chat is radically different than PC chat. As it is, chat on XB1 is unusable; they need really good public voice chat. Not true on PC where everyone has a keyboard, so it wouldn't be a glaring problem until the game was released if they only tested and had a pre-release on PCs.
