@Strikke I play on Xbox because the PS5 controller layout hurts my hands due to health issues; I couldn’t care less about Phil Spencer, but hey continue to put words in my mouth.
Exclusivity deals suck, and if this game had launched 2 years ago at the same time as PS5, it would have done better. No it wouldn’t have beaten PS5 numbers, but I bet it would have sold at least a mil.
I already bought and played through FF16 when it came out. I highly prefer my Xbox over my PS5, but I’m not going to wait years for a potential chance at a game coming out on it; especially an RPG where story can be spoiled very quickly if you don’t play it right away.
Stop treating this like Xbox players don’t buy games. It’s not selling well because it wasn’t available on the system for 2 years since the release and those who wanted to play it have played it elsewhere. Those whole Xbox players don’t buy games garbage is getting old too; people just regurgitate it without any basis. Yes many Xbox players have gamepass, but many still buy games regularly; personally I’ve bought multiple games in the last year for it including ones that launched simultaneously on it as well as PS5/Steam.
Give Xbox players the chance to play at launch and they will; this is just secondhand scraps 2 years later at almost full price. I already paid close to $100 CAD the first time, I’m not doing that again just to have it on Xbox.
Seeing the PS fans rejoice in it failing is saddening too. It’s a bad look to be taking pride or being happy that it’s not selling well on Xbox. Let people enjoy games where they want and stop trying to push the console war junk.
Honestly, I've bought alot of games this fall, but there have been many as well that made me think "Really? There releasing another one? Why?"
Gears 4 was a blast for me, but I'm a major fan of the series, so I'm a bit bias on that one; Pokemon Sun and Moon will probably satisfy me as well. I bit the bullet and purchased Skyrim Remastered as It had been years since i had played and the mods were a nice touch and I'm looking quite forward to FFXV and seeing if it was worth the wait.
However, seeing games like BF1, COD, Watch Dogs 2 come out just made me cringe. People are either tired of these games, or have been burned by them before; they aren't willing to put the money down on them simply because its beginning to feel like the sports genre, buying the yearly release with a "roster" update. Even as a personal fan of remasters; its becoming harder for me to buy them if they are just a simple performace upgrade even if I originally loved the games (AC Collection).
For me this fall, my biggest favourites have been the games that have shown something different, had that special charm and have made me want to come back for me. Dragon Quest Builders was a fun time waster for me, and once I get extra time ill be diving back into it. World of FF was an absolute hit in my opinion, making its way up into my top games spot of the year and as one of my favourite FF games. Jumping even further back, Overwatch is still managing to grab my attention long after getting the Platinum; it's these games that are doing something a bit different and have that charm factor that will be my tops of the years; not the annual souless cash ins.
