Re: Review: Grand Slam Tennis 2 (PlayStation 3)

I played the game last night with Move. I played one career match and one online match where I was playing with move and my opponent was playing with dualshock 3. I have to say that I had fun in both matches, I felt I was able to control shot direction and power fairly accurately. The earlier you set up your shot the controller vibrates to let you know how much power you'll have. Two shocks as it were indicate full power. However do note that you can waggle your way out of trouble if you don't set up a shot, but that shot will likely not score you a point. Same if you hit a forehand with a backhand stance and vice versa. So yeah its not a sim and its not quite arcade its somewhere in the middle. But its fun. The tutorial on the other hand I found to be very difficult with Move. I would say play the tutorial for a while but don't expect to master it in order to be able to play a regular match. So if you're into Tennis and into Move i'd say at least rent the title and give it a try. Sports Champions its not, but its not bad on its own merit either.

Oh and just turn the commentary volume to 0 if it gets annoying.

I'm not sure either. I was able to waggle and return shots, and return backhands in the forehand position and vice versa. I don't think they implemented it 1:1 like they attempted to do on the Wii. The Wii version is actually really fun once you learn it.

Well going to put this one in the queue rather than buy it. I was hoping they had implemented an HD version of the Wii game with 1:1 Move controls but those hopes are fading. I couldn't tell how much control I was exerting in the practice area with the ball machine either.

definitely reserving judgement tho until more time spent and see what others are experiencing.

I loved Grand Slam Tennis on Wii which utilized Motion Plus, tho I had to watch a couple of YouTube videos to get the hang of the controls. But once I got it it was incredible fun. Had some intense 15 minute plus volleys playing online, so the online is very fun. So I hope the controls are similar for Move. Can't wait for this !!
