Will a single game cart work for two players or do both players need the game?

So I'll either get this or ModNation Racers first... I'm leaning towards this but I also love ModNation Racers......

I'll still probably pick this one up as it looks to be a really good game, but this is disappointing news.

Looks like it could be a good game! Beautiful textures and background. I think I'll wait until I can read a few reviews though before purchasing.
