Developer Fuse Games has pushed a new game update for Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and it makes a much-requested improvement to the game's online multiplayer.

As promised a while ago, the studio has doubled the size of parties you can form with friends; with this new update installed, you're able to party up with groups of up to six players, rather than just three.

The update, available now and only 467 MB, makes a few other changes too.

For PC players using mouse and keyboard, the update introduces a handful of control layout presets "to support AZERTY keys and left/right-handed play." Apparently, full key rebinding support is coming in a later update.

Elsewhere, the rest of the patch is largely concerned with multiplayer:

  • An increase to the number of credits you receive when you join mid-Tour in online multiplayer from 4,000 to 6,000
  • Transition tidy-ups for Spectator camera view
  • Removal of the option to ‘Exit the game’ the multiplayer menu to stop accidental quits
  • A few party stability fixes
  • A fix for the PS5 connection issue
  • A fix for the AMD Frame Interpolation game crash issue

It's pretty fast work from Fuse Games, reacting to player requests and updating the game in response.

There are a number of common complaints and suggestions I've seen doing the rounds, and I expect the team is planning on addressing a number of those going forward.

Personally, I'm hoping the game will get some robust DLC in the form of new planets and courses. The ability to set up custom events, online and offline, would also be nice.

Anyway, it's a great start for Galactic Racer's post-launch support. Are you enjoying the multiplayer? Tell us in the comments section below.
