As promised, CD Projekt Red has handed us our first look at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past — the brand new expansion that was announced, to everyone's shock and awe, earlier this year.

The trailer's made up of both cinematics and gameplay, as Geralt embarks on a seemingly dark and bloody quest. There are new enemy types and new locations on display.

But the big takeaway is that Geralt's got his hands on a chain weapon that can be used to ensnare and pull enemies towards him. It looks like a brutal bit of kit.

The DLC's still on track to release next year, and it'll obviously benefit from all of the gameplay upgrades that are coming courtesy of The Witcher 3 Remastered. Yep, that's a real announcement, if you haven't seen it already.

And, for those who are somehow yet to experience the exceptional Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, CD Projekt Red is making them totally free for owners of the base game.
