Sony attracted 125 million monthly active users to PlayStation, accurate as of the end of Q1 2026, which ended on 30th June.
That’s an increase of 2% year-over-year, when it achieved 123 million monthly active users during the same period in 2025.
It’s actually down on the previous quarter, which hit 126 million monthly active users, although it’s normal to see the numbers lull during the spring and summer months.
This means the firm is on track to break records this Christmas, with GTA 6 likely to push it beyond last year’s Q3 high of 133 million monthly active users.

PlayStation has attributed monthly active users as a key metric moving forward, as the engagement tends to correlate with increased spending. It’s forecasting a record breaking fiscal year.
Of note, the company’s network services category – which includes PS Plus subscriptions – is performing extremely well right now.
For the quarter ending 30th June, it contributed ¥208.6 billion (~$1.3 billion) in sales, which is up over 20% year-over-year, and higher than any previous quarter in its last fiscal year.
That number is likely to absolutely explode over Christmas, assuming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 lands.
