Even though it's not a numbered entry, Resident Evil: Code Veronica was every bit a mainline game on the PS2, and now its upcoming remake Resident Evil Veronica is primed for more Capcom success.
While it may have dropped the Code part of the title, Resident Evil Veronica has now picked up over one million wishlists after its unveiling last week.
This is only across PS5 and PC; the remake is not even available to wishlist on Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox Series X|S yet, so the number of wishlists will only increase once it's possible on those platforms.

"Deranged terror awaits the 1 million of you who have wishlisted Resident Evil Veronica," said Capcom on social media. "Thank you!"
Resident Evil Veronica launches for PS5 in 2027, and it's set to remake the PS2 entry while making a lot of changes. It'll still be third-person, but there'll be "modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics".
The game is set three months after the Raccoon City disaster, and sees Claire Redfield searching for her brother Chris in Paris. However, some Umbrella forces capture Claire and take her to Rockfort Island, where much of the original title is set. "Now Claire must make a desperate attempt to escape the remote Rockfort Island which, due to another biological disaster, has transformed into a living hellscape of survival horror."
Along with Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, it's actually Code: Veronica X I have the most of my childhood gaming memories attached to. Since I wasn't actually allowed to play it at home, I went round to my neighbour's house and played it there. It was in my friend's horror-themed bedroom, complete with Jason Vorhess figures, where I played through the game.
I can't wait to play this PS5 reimagining in 2027.

We're in a second golden age of Resident Evil. Rumor has it via PSU and Dusk Golem that we see Veronica before we see Requiem DLC. It seems like a February release is in the cards for us again.
I bought the original just before the rumours of a remake began to circulate, so I decided to wait the arrival of the remake. Very much looking forward to playing it...
Capcom broke the code to making money. Just re/make great games.
Take note, Sony
How often do RE games launch outside of the February-April window? I can’t remember any for a while.
(Apparently 7 was the last week of January and Village was the first week of May)
@IntrepidWombat I thought early '27 was very likely but hadn't really thought that it might come before the Requiem DLC.
It is February, then I've got 3 of my most desired games coming that month. If the Witcher expansion comes around then as well I'm in trouble.
I enjoyed Code Veronica but i hope this remake fixed:
If done right, this could be one of the best remakes ever made, like I said before all they need to avoid is giving it the RE3R treatment...
@Oram77 Apparently the main team that did both RE2R and RE4R are the ones on this so I feel confident they will get it right.
I think they realised they rushed 3 and hopefully won't do that again. Although I do still love that game, it's just a shame there isn't more to it.
Capcom don’t miss these days.
@PuppetMaster agreed, the original hasn't aged well at all but there's still a gem in the rough to be had. I'm calling it now I think this will top RE2R and RE4R.
