Genki is poised to release Tokyo Xtreme Racer on PS5 very soon indeed, and when it arrives, it'll have some additional features over the currently available PC version.
Launching on 26th February 2026, the racing game has released another trailer, showing off three new vehicles making their debut in the PS5 edition:
The cars are the Honda Fit (Jazz in some places), Mazda CX-3, and Toyota Dyna. Some "traffic" vehicles will be made playable too in the new version.
As well as a trio of new rides, the PS5 version will introduce a replay mode, music selector, and PS5-specific optimisations, such as PS5 Pro support and DualSense haptic feedback.
Genki has also confirmed that all these new features and content will be coming to the PC version in future updates, so you won't be missing out if that's where you purchased the game — it's just coming a bit later.
So, if you're interested in checking out Tokyo Xtreme Racer, it seems PS5 may have the superior version, at least for a little while.
We're pretty excited to finally play this unique, retro-feeling racing game soon, but how about you? Tell us in the comments section below.

Would love a demo for this!
I'm interested, it's all down to the reviews.
Between this and Screamer, Japanese arcade racer fans are gonna have it good.
@MrPeanutbutterz Yeah; i think demos are one of the best way to sell a game. Saved me money on lost soul aside. Now it's marathon turn as they are doing a server slam. This way i can trust my experience instead of youtubers
I know hardly anything about this game. Is it an arcade racer? Is it circuits or open world?
@HaveTheSauce Yep, nothing beats the feel of the game in your own hands (just ignore the fact that I bought Concord off the back of one of the betas).
I may double dip on this one. I have it on my Steam Deck, and it is fantastic!
@Nightcrawler71 It's an arcade racer that takes place on the Tokyo freeway system. You select starting point on the map and then find opponents to race. And it's very different to a typical racing experience. Each racer has a "health" bar that drops when you do things like ram into the opponent or when you gain a lead in front of your opponent (their bar gradually drains when you're ahead of them). It's hard to describe without actually playing it, but it's super fun and addictive.
Does this have wheel support? Perhaps a PC player can confirm. Would love to play this with the G29 next week.
@spazuluwarrior I'd love to play this using my T598..
I want this so badly.
