Update []: As promised, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined’s PS5 demo is available to download now from the PS Store. It takes up about 2.3GB in storage space, so nothing earth-shattering.

You’ll be able through the Ballymolloy storyline in its entirety, and your progress will transition to the full-game should you decide to purchase it.

By playing the demo, you’ll also unlock the ‘Day Off Dress’ for Maribel in the full game, completely free of charge.

Original Story: Square Enix has revealed the full opening movie for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, and in a word, it's magical.

The movie takes full advantage of the remake's diorama-esque visuals, dropping its puppet-based characters into delightfully detailed environments as they battle against beasties big and small. We think it's pretty much a masterclass in selling the overall tone of Dragon Quest.

But the bigger story here is that the video ends with a surprise message, which confirms that a playable Reimagined demo will drop later this week, on the 7th January. Any progress you make in said demo will carry over to the full game.

Completing the demo will also net you the 'Day Off Dress' — an additional outfit for Maribel.
