Square Enix has already revealed that next year's Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined will feature story edits in a bid to 'streamline' the overall narrative — but the remake will also boast an entirely new conclusion.
As part of Game Informer's coverage of the upcoming RPG, producer Takeshi Ichikawa spills the beans.
"[Reimagined] follows the narrative of the original story, but depending on some of the [...] player choices, players will get to see a new conclusion that's never been seen before in previous iterations," Ichikawa confirms.

"So, even players who have played previous versions of Dragon Quest VII, they'll still get to have this fresh narrative experience with Reimagined."
We're left wondering just how... involved this new ending will actually be. Technically, previous Dragon Quest titles have dabbled in alternate story paths, but they usually boil down to additional endgame dungeons or boss battles that result in a 'true' ending.
Ichikawa's wording obviously suggests that this may be a bit more complex, with a specific mention of "player choices".
We'll have to wait and see how Reimagined's plot plays out. Again, the remake will do things differently — it's just a question of how much change is actually present.
