Fresh from scooping the best band gong at this year’s Asia Artist Awards, rising Korean stars QWER have been signed by Sony to promote PS5 this Christmas.
A brief trailer shows the gals powering up a DualSense and exchanging holiday gifts, before a magical blue ticket flies past the screen with the message: “Be Happy. QWER with PlayStation. 17th December.”
‘Be Happy’ happens to be the name of a song on the band’s most recent EP, so we wonder if this is going to result in some kind of PlayStation-themed music video, a little like the Yoasobi one earlier in the year. The track isn’t particularly Christmasy, though, so we’re not sure.

QWER is a big deal in Korea right now, though, having rapidly risen through k-pop popularity ranks after debuting towards the end of 2023. Two of its members were well-known Twitch streamers prior to being selected for the band, while another graduated from Japanese idol group NMB48.
Sony has increasingly been leaning into the popularity of k-pop stars to reach new audiences of late. For example, earlier this year it announced BLACKPINK’s Lisa as a global brand ambassador, which has resulted in various promotional activities on social media.
QWER’s rising status probably made this collaboration a little cheaper, but as the group is well embedded in gaming circles – it recently visited Riot’s headquarters and did some promotional activities with League of Legends – the platform holder may be hoping this promo easily finds its intended audience.
