The success of PS5, PC action title Stellar Blade is the sort of catalyst that could propel the Korean games industry into the mainstream, former PlayStation president Shuhei Yoshida believes.
In an interview with Minimap at the G-Star games exhibition in Busan, Korea, the former PlayStation lead discussed the collaboration he helped nurture with Stellar Blade studio Shift Up. Yoshida visited the team between 2019 and 2020, and discovered a project with "exceptional quality across the board-3D modeling, realism, graphics, and action".
These meetings led to PlayStation publishing the game on PS5 and PC, and it has now gone on to sell more than three million copies across the two platforms.
Similar to how the success of Black Myth: Wukong generated more interest and funding in the Chinese games industry, Yoshida believes Stellar Blade can represent more than just a single release.
