The original Fantasy Life on the Nintendo 3DS was a deeply charming little adventure, blending job-based, life sim elements with RPG-style exploration and combat.
And its anticipated sequel, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, is starting to look like the perfect follow-up, building and expanding upon everything that the first game did well.
Over the last couple of weeks, developer Level-5 has been publishing extended gameplay demonstrations, each one of them detailing a different job — known as 'lives' within the game.

You can find the latest of these videos above, and it's probably our best look at the title so far. It covers the Mercenary style of play, where you can take on quests to slay monsters out in the wilds. It makes for a decent overview of what to expect from the game's structure and action battle system.
Of course, this is just an introductory part of the broader levelling process — but you can still see the kind of promise that Fantasy Life i has.
If you want to see even more gameplay, you can check out the Miner, Alchemist, and Woodcutter videos below. And yes, you can switch between jobs and become a master of every trade, if that's your ultimate goal.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is still on track to release next month, on the 21st May. But do you like what you see? Get grinding in the comments section below.

Been looking forward to this one for a few years. Seems like it's finally going to come out on release date.
The original was a ton of fun, especially in local co-op. Looking forward to playing this on PC.
One of my favourite 3DS games, so happy we get this 1 on the PS5. Cant wait to master all lives again.
I might still get this on a sale, but I'd get it sooner if they get a true local coop going.
I'm surprised this hasn't had a demo.
